Lavender flavored treats?

I'm familiar with lavender cupcake frosting and dark chocolate with lavender. Anything else you can think of? What about any other unexpected flavors that you love?

Lavender lemonade is amazing, as is limeade. Actually, adding lavendar to almost any fruity drink is a good idea. Make up a lavendar simple syrup, and use that as sweetener.

I had an amazing lavender creme brulee a couple years ago at a place that is no longer open.

Combining Lavender with rosemary is also a good idea for any of the above treats.

And, obviously, Lavender ice cream (Molly Moon's has a honey lavender that is really good) or sorbet is a good idea. If you're making sorbet, go with a citrus-y lavender, or even a lavender mint combo.

Lavender ice cream is wonderful. Molly Moons carries it.

Along those same lines, Earl Grey ice cream is also wonderful, but you have to make it yourself (Unless someone from Molly Moons reads Questionland). You find a standard vanilla ice cream recipe, but at the beginning you heat your milk/cream and allow 3 or 4 bags of good quality tea to steep in the milk before adding any other ingredients. The resulting ice cream brings out all the wonderful back-note flavors of Earl Grey (one of which can be lavender)without any bitterness.

Someone mentioned it in the "Last Seattle Meal" thread yesterday, but the Palace Kitchen has a goat cheese and lavender fondue that is, I'm told, to die for. It's not too pricey either--$10, served with bread and apples. I keep meaning to go try it.

Dry Soda Co. has a lavender flavor. Their soda is light and not heavily sweetened, so it would be great if you don't want something as rich as chocolate or frosting.

As far as other unexpected flavors, well... can I just stay with Dry Soda Co? Their lemongrass flavor really works well. They have a new cucumber flavor that sounds perfect for a hot summer day, but I haven't tried it.

My friend made a cornbread with lavender once - it added a nice herbal flavor and went well with the corn. Also at Ama Ama (which just closed) I had an awesome Lavender Lemon Drop - they used lavender-flavored sugar on the rim and there were some blossoms muddled into the drink. Maybe lavender simple syrup also?

I particularly like lemon and floral flavors together - lemonade with just a splash of rose water or orange flower water is awesome; I bet lavender lemonade would be awesome too.

I'm not so much into the honey lavender ice cream from Molly Moon's, but at Full Tilt Ice Cream I had an amazing rose-flavored ice cream. And if you have a party there you can design a flavor of ice cream for your party - Lavender+Earl Grey Ice Cream does sound yummy!

Zeitgeist in Pioneer Square carries a very lovely lavender shortbread. It looks like a normal little cookie, but it packs a huge wallop of lavender flavor.

I mix lavender in with my weed and vaporize it. Sometimes with other things (sage, mint). I think it's lovely.

Lavender is the classic example of a nouveau cuisine gimmick flavor - especially when it is the primary flavoring in a food. It tastes like soap, which isn't surprising, as the name of lavender comes from the French - laver - which means "to wash".

Some years ago, I found found a pint of lavender flavored ice cream at a high end grocery store. I realized then that I did not enjoy the combo of the soapy flavor and the sweet vanilla flavor that was the ice cream base. Since then, I haven't really been able to enjoy lavender sweets.

However, I *love* herbs de provence (a mix of rosemary, lavender, etc.) for seasoning a roast chicken.
