Are there any parts of Richmond, Va where our relocating Capitol Hill family could find contentment?

We are contemplating a necessary move to Richmond, Virginia. I've never been there. Having lived on and loved Capitol Hill for many years, I'm wondering what neighborhoods out there we might find interesting. We have kids and spend a lot of time on Broadway, in the Pike-Pine area, etc. I love being able to walk to cool shops or markets or go to a movie. Does that exist in Richmond. I really have no f-ing idea. Maybe it's a place where we finally land in suburbia.

There's an area of downtown near Edgar Allen Poe's old house that I can't immediately remember the name of. There are some cool bars and a couple of tasty restaurants around there. Enjoy.

I was in Richmond VA once, and there is an area called The Fan which is at least one of the bohemian/collegiate parts of town. It's not the same as Capitol Hill Seattle, but it's definitely a nice city neighborhood and not suburbia.
