Has Questionland lost its panache?

It seems like nobody really posts real questions that often (compared to how active the board used to be).

Is it that we've asked all the (worthwhile) questions we've had building up over the years and are now left with the slow trickle of everyday questiondom?

Bonus part: I got here a little while after QL started: folks who've been here since 'The Beginning of Days' - does the activity come in waves? (eg once we've exhausted our 'question reserves' do we just wait for new blood to start things up again? or at least is that the trend?)

Maybe it's the fact that we haven't had any 'Watching Couple Having Sex' posts now that people realized we aren't LustLab.... perhaps that was some sort of unrealized lifeblood whose supply has now been choked off.

Or maybe it was the fact that meeting in person made us less likely to ask potentially stupid/idiotic/embarrassing/generally worthless questions (with a few exceptions of course)?

Or am I imagining this?

Most of the smartypants who frequent QL like to provide answers, not questions. There are some exceptions, of course, but a glimpse at the "greatest contributors" list shows significantly more answers than questions across the board.

Throw in the fact that anyone who asks questions perceived as idiotic or preachy gets pilloried, and it's understandable that there aren't too many.

I don't think it's necessarily bad. I'd rather have quality than quantity, and I have learned quite a bit on here as it is, particularly regarding food and local interest topics.

It would be cool to see more intelligent and random opinion-type questions. Those are interesting because there is no right answer.

l definitely don't see the meeting in person being an issue, certainly not for me. Then again, l can see how it could be for some, but l would guess that most of us who have chosen to meet in person have done so because we aren't pretending to be someone we aren't - or at least, have nothing to hide.

l don't think that questions involving couples and threesomes were so numerous that that was all QL had going for it; otherwise, it'd be a cesspool of horny pervs, and we'd lack the many, many intelligent and interesting questions l've seen around here over the months.

l certainly don't think we're out of questions; l come up with questions every day, make a mental note, and then immediately forget them when l get to work. l have questions l've been meaning to ask for months, l just forget to.

l think it's an ebb and flow, like any other board. People drift off for a while, get jobs, have kids, get busy, start relationships, and just aren't online as much. Not gone entirely, just not around as much. lt's the way of life. Though l daresay the rampant downvoting doesn't exactly encourage newbies to stick around.

I unfortunately discovered that I only have a finite supply of panache, and it's all gone now.

For me, it used to be more fun...until everyone killed the questions bubbling inside of me, because they hated everything I asked so much. I get enough haters from youtube. I don't really need more, even though I do ask questions now and then. It just kills the fun when people are assholes. P.S. Dear assholes, congratulations, you win!

saying that all the worthwhile questions have been asked is like saying all the greatest pieces of music have already been written.
there is no limit to the combinations of words that can be produced with question marks at the end.
new generations of people will come in and give questionland a kick in the pants and then it will cool off again. this cycle will continue until nobody gives a shit about anything anymore.

I only live in seattle during the summer and the stranger isn't very interesting unless you are actually here so, this is likely my last post. Yes. There are only so many question left to ask. Also the current trend to take it over and use it as a soapbox has made the place nearly as unpleasant as the slog comments. Somehow the natural trend is towards angry and disrespectful.

You may well be onto something with the idea of familiarity being an additional problem. I would add to that the tendency of people to be hyper critical (myself included) Even the annoying rabble-rousers are lacking spunk. I miss fragica and lee getting in fights with people. It may have annoyed me at the time but I miss it now. The new questions have petered out as well. RM, Kristian, Kip, Luke, cagey, captan america, all provided a steady stream of questions. At this point, cato is the only interesting thing left and he is just a punk. It seems like QL has run its course
