  4 0 8% - 92% exclusively gay. I can not imagine being %100 gay on this scale as you would not have any association with women, at all. Seems to me, the gayer you are, the more likely you are to have women friends. I call bullshit on that part. It also is dependent on where you live. In super-gay Seattle it is very easy to be immersed in the LGBT community. For someone not in a city it would be very difficult to achieve that. To be truly gay by this standard you must live in the city. In my family, for many generations, the women are strong and the men are good looking. The default is bisexual and the exception is gay. (Other kids fathers read playboy but, my dad subscribed to GQ) My uncles, brothers and nephews are all bi. To a person, it is a problem. The women either go gay or marry a pretty man (perpetuating the thing) but the men tend to be dysfunctional. I am considered the normal one in my family with my one partnership of 23 years. It is tough in our society but, by embracing your sexuality, you are doing better than you give yourself credit for. You should give yourself at least a "C" for both, just for understanding your own desires. I have seen what a failing grade looks like and, it isn't pretty. I don't really care about getting passing marks as gay or straight, though that's taken me a while. Realizing that there's no well defined niche for bi (or queer) men meant that I now have the freedom to be who I am. Both gay identity and straight identity, for better or worse, have archetypes for folks to fall into. I don't want to be a stereotype, never did. It is difficult to find folks to date who get it, but that's alright, I have my friends' and family's support and that's better than a lot of people get. Finding folks who get who you are is difficult for anyone. It sounds like your partners in the past have had some jealousy and insecurity, because they're human, and directed it at your queer/polyness, because they were being a bit insensitive. I don't know how to convince your lovers that you're really into them other than being really into them... So yeah, my sympathies. If you really want to complain about how life's not fair (and it really isn't) I'd be glad to share a pitcher of beer sometime. B Strand commented over 2 years ago | Report 0 0 Oh, l definitely know l'm not the first bi woman to have this problem, much less the first poly one. lt's been an ongoing issue for most bi women trying to differentiate themselves from the selfish or experimental ones operating under the bisexual label. l don't mean to sound like l'm whining (and l'd love to take you up on that beer anyway, l've really enjoyed meeting everyone from QL...you can hit me up on the forums and PM me there if you like), it's just an ongoing theme. l mean, of course there are lesbians out there secure enough in themselves and their relationships to have them with bi women, and of course there are those who can have one with a bi *and* poly woman. There are also women who claim bisexuality because they *are* confused/experimental/bisexual only in a physical sense/sworn off men, etc., and *do* hurt people in the process. But l've gotten to the point that l'm actually afraid to share my orientation at times for fear l'll lose the opportunity for friendship with those l share it with. l've had gay women clam right up and stop talking to me after sharing that l was bi, so l find myself just not doing it anymore, and it feels like l've gone back in the closet in a weird way. l've definitely had a number of partners in the past (all but the last five, four of whom l was in triads with) have some major insecurities with my lifestyle. l nip that one in the bud by simply being up front from the get-go, and not dating anyone who is clearly not comfortable with it. This sounds about right to me, I think I only scored 17% straight since most of my friends are straight girls and I slept with a lady when I was in college.   2 0 72% straight, etc;(so THERE all you assholes at Orono Middle School!) but I, also, find the questions to be limiting and monochromatic. In particular, the questions "Which gender do you socialize with?" and "In which community do you like to spend your time?" seem like the same question to me, and complicated to answer; for example, almost all of my (very few) female friends are lesbians (same sex as myself but different orientation) but I don't hang around with them in gay bars, so where does that put me vis-a-vis "community"? Also, aren't sexual fantasies "ideal" by their very nature? I can't imagine anyone wishing they had different fantasies unless they were closeted and/or repressed. That being said, I do think it could be a tool for self-discovery, just a very blunt tool. But even so, does *wishing* you were a different sexual orientation make one that sexual orientation, or mean they're less gay, straight or bi just because they occasionally get frustrated with it? Personally, l don't think so. I have always mostly socialized with guys, since all the siblings near me in age were boys and I just grew up doing guy things with guys. I've never learned to talk or do "girlie" very well.
