    Guinness. As much as I love microbrews, nothing beats a pint of Guinness.

    Locally, I like:

    * Hale's Cream Ale - http://www.halesales.com/brews.htm
    * Mac & Jack's African Amber - http://www.macandjacks.com/
    * Pyramid's SnoCap - http://www.pyramidbrew.com/

    When I was in the Northeast:

    * Smuttynose Shoals Pale Ale - http://www.smuttynose.com/
    * Shipyard Pumpkinhead - http://www.shipyard.com/
    * Harpoon UFO - http://www.harpoonbrewery.com/
    * Geary's Hampshire Ale - http://www.gearybrewing.com/

    Hmm, now I'm thirsty...

    Heavy:
    Black Boss Porter - this Polish Porter packs $9.4% ABV; available at Madison Market for $2.49
    Young's Double Chocolate Stout - iconic purple and orange can; rich and creamy
    Guiness - in a can or on tap, not a bottle

    Light:
    Anchor Steam - quaint, old-timey bottle; possibly brewed by stevedores
    Singha - Thai beer with a golden lion on the label
    Coors Light - shotgun it like you mean it

    Big fan of anything by Boundary Bay. Especially the Dry Hopped Amber.

    Rasputin at some places and good beer shops is amazing.

    The Mac and Jacks Black Cat Porter makes me happy. I've only found it at Sazerac downtown so far.

    Otherwise Hoegaarden for something lighter.

    When we go out I usually have a Mac & Jack's and at home, ever since money's been tight, I mix Inversion IPA and Pabst half/half. It's perfect! The flavor of the PBR being so mellow it doesn't take away from the IPA at all! I've tried this w/ a lot of micro/dank brews (dark & light) and I find that it works with most, stretches your dollar and your buzz!
