Is "Fudge Hill" as offensive a term as I think it is?

When I told my cab driver that I was going to Capital Hill today, he said, "Fudge Hill it is!" I was taken aback, never having heard the term, and said, "What?" He explained that it was a common local term for the hill, since that's where there is a large gay population. I think he was assuming that I was from out of town (I've lived on Capital Hill for a long time) and that he was just explaining some local color.

First: Is this a common term? I've really never heard it.
Second: Isn't this awful? Or am I just not hip to some newly acceptable terminology?

i've certainly never heard of it, and yes, it is awful.

if the situation absolutely requires a humorous euphemism, i'll usually go with "party mountain" -- the provincial types tend to like that one -- otherwise if the context is clear, it's just "the hill" . failing that, it's always just plain-old "capitol hill".

It's for the many specialty fudge shops that Capital Hill has to offer.

Kind of repulsive. The term I've always heard is "Swish Alps." Equally rude but not quite as repellently so.

Pretty weak tea as homophobic/off color humor goes. He would have been better off with something like:

    Mt. Ram Rear
    PNP Peak
    K-Hole 2
    Asscades
    Bareback Mountain

Or at the very least using the correct term, Fudge Packer, in his attempt at local color.
