Any good alternatives to IKEA for home office furniture?

I need a new desk and some storage/shelving units. There must be some affordable & attractive alternatives to IKEA.

Two words- re and store. Re-Store! Dunno if there's one in Seattle but there is one on up in Bellingham. Take the Chuckanut route and it's a lovely drive and a lovely town. And even if you can't find the office furniture your actually looking for you can, like, totally build it super easy outta the stuff they do have. Like an awesome desk made outta a french door and the brass posts of bar stools with a window pane laid over the top or an office chair spliced together from the remnants of a barbers chair and a lazy boy. Plus last time I was there they had actual rotary phones(!) and real hand cranked pencil sharpeners! Ohhhhh and don't get me started on the filing cabinets and chalk boards!

If you are willing to shop online, CB2.com and Crate & Barrel often have cool stuff...probably a little more spendy than IKEA. Also storables.com. I know there is a Storables in Portland, but I'm not sure about Seattle, but they have recently upgraded their website, so you can find more online. Shipping costs suck ass though.

If you like vintage stuff you can try the UW surplus. I've gotten filing cabinets and shelving and chairs from them. They usually have some great desks as well. Unfortunately, they are only open on Tuesdays.

Never hurts to take a swing through value village. Sometime there's surprisingly good stuff for insanely cheap.

Crate and Barrel might be a good bet, or possibly Dania. Some of the higher-end (it's relative, of course) stuff at IKEA that's solid wood rather than particleboard has a less "IKEA" look to it.

I'm partial to the leaning desk/shelf sets at C&B.
