I always hit Rodney's Oyster House in Yaletown and Guu on Thurlow Street. Guu is an inexpensive and very authentic Japanese tapas place. Seriously, check out the menu. It's crazy and incredibly delicious:

The aquarium in Stanley park is also amazing. Kicks Seattle's aquarium's ass by like a million.

I love Stanley Park. It's beautiful and has cute black squirrels running around everywhere. The market on Grenville Island is fun to visit. It's similar to Pike Place Market but smaller and more focused on food. If you go there check-out Roger's Chocolates. They have great chocolates, I especially enjoy your Victorian Cremes (which you can now get here at the Chocolate Box) and their white chocolates.

Best restaurant in Vancouver (hell, best restaurant in North America): Vij's, on W 11th Ave, up Granville. Sort of modern Indian with a twist. It's not as cheap as it used to be, and they don't take reservations, but you will nearly die of pleasure.

I enjoy going to the public art museum and if they don't have a great display on, just hanging out in their gift shop.

You can usually see reproductions of whatever their main displays are, for sale in smaller reproductions.
So, it's almost like being admitted for free, and you can buy a few things to remember your trip by.

Great Breweries! The one on Granville is great, but there are a bunch of them all over the city worth trying.

Also, rent bikes and ride along the seawall.

I second the suggestion of Granville Island. There's two breweries worth checking out, and an area that sorta resembles a flea market that you should save your appetite for. Bakeries, cheese/charcuterie shops, noodle stands, Indian, etc.

Richmond may well be the dim sum capital of North America, and I highly recommend it if you have a car, a decent sense of direction, and the patience for the drive. Get the address for Sun Sui Wah and go there.

If you're in to pot culture, you'll want to check out Vansterdam. The headquarters for the BC Marijuana Party is located just east of Gastown, not too far from Steamworks, the best brewery in town. There's now a smoking lounge in back. BYOMJ and $5.00 cover charge.

Stanley Park is really cool, and the Blodel Conservatory is a nice place to go when it's raining.
