Where is the BEST place to get a Japanese tattoo in Seattle? Bonus points for a specific artist.

Yushi, who used to be at Apocalypse is hands down the best motherfuckin Japanese tatto artist in the city. I believe he has his own thing going now, although I don't know where. There is a contact form on his website that you could probably use to find out:

Slave to the Needle in Ballard, on 65th has an outstanding group of artists, most of whom do Japanese style... They are very popular, so stop by, look at their portfolios and make an appointment...

Vancort at Slave to the Needle is brilliant and specializes in East Asian tattoos.

Check out Tina Bafaro of Seattle. In addition to being an AMAZING (and fast) artist with 15 years of experience she works out of her own beautiful and private studio down in Pioneer Square.

I know she has done some amazing asian pieces as you can see on her website:

And it look like she's recently done a youtube interview, which is a great way to see what she's about as well as see even more of her work:

I second the recommendation of Van at Slave to the Needle in Ballard. It'll take you a while to get an appointment - he is normally booked up 3-4 months in advance - but it is worth the wait.

If you do end up going to Van, I'd say to tell him what you want and let him run with it. The more flexibility he has, the better it'll turn out. Also, your tattoo will mostly likely end up larger than you expect it to - just go with it.
