Is it okay to play some Christmas music at a Thanksgiving dinner?

Juse a few classics, e.g. Sinatra, Garland, Andy Williams, Rosemary Clooney

No. Stop that right now. You're giving me a headache, and the music is making it hard to concentrate on drunken Uncle Jack's fighting over politics with the younger cousins, who have been out in the backyard smoking dope all afternoon.

(but seriously, sure, if you think your guests are the type who'd like it. Personally, I think most people get fed entirely enough Xmas music, whether they want it or not, if they venture out of their houses between Halloween and New Years. Have mercy.)

Do you feel your family would appreciate it? More to the point: DO YOU HATE YOUR FAMILY?!

My vote is no. Would you play Christmas music on Easter or Halloween? Christmas music is for Christmas and is NOT to be played before or on Thanksgiving.

That being said, it is indeed your party and you can play whatever you want but if I was attending your Thanksgiving dinner and was compelled to listen to Christmas music I would definitely take a few stars off your host rating and talk about you behind your back.

It's your party and you can play whatever music you want to. You have an idea as to whether or not any of your company would be offended or annoyed by your selections. I think any of the more neutral holiday music that isn't specifically Christmas story would be best. However the holiday season is officially heralded in by Thanksgiving day so again in the end it's up to you.

If you know for sure that everyone who you're going to be subjecting to this likes Christmas music, yes. I've already heard Christmas music in more than one restaurant and store.

Otherwise, you're likely to have some very stabby dinner guests.

But then that's what Christmas music does to me.
