Favorite Star Trek episodes?

My friend and I have been sporadically checking out Star Trek (original series) DVDs from the local library (because of the 60s wonderfulness!) I've seen a smattering of original series and next generation episodes throughout the years, but I'm definitely no hardcore fan... So I'd love to know what your favorite episodes are (from any Star Trek series). It would help me decide which DVDs to check out next. Thanks!

A Piece of the Action, All Our Yesterdays, The Enterprise Incident, For the World is Hallow and I Have Touched the Sky.

The last episode I really really hope they use part of for the new reboot of the franchise (McCoy is diagnosed with a terminal, deadly disease and only has a few months to live) And the Enterprise Incident is just a great Federation vs. Romulan episode.

Hold on there... "A Piece of the Action" is basically the Star Trek command trio acting as pawns between warring ganster gangs...until they turn the game on their ear. Cute, but not the best episode.
"All Our Yesterdays" is an interesting time-travel episode on where you might go in history, if you had the chance. Probably the best one you've got listed here.

"The Enterprise Incident" IIRC, is either a parody of the "Run Silent, Run Deep" submarine warfare from very very early in the series, where we FIRST meet the Romulans.... OR, it's a clever subtrifuge plot for Kirk and Spock to go steal a cloaking device from a Romulan commander who's definitately attracted to Spock!

For the World is Hollow" may be the most imaginitive of the set here, but I thought it was a stinker of melodrama, and on my list of "worst".

For my money, go with "The Naked Time" which gives you good insight into each crew member (redone for STTNG as "The Naked Now" for the same purpose.) OR "City on the Edge of Forever" with Edith Keeler condemning the world and a great time-travel romp gone wrong. OR, "Amock Time" which features Spock's difficulty with Pon Far, the mating ritual that goes badly for Kirk, Bones and Spock, and takes place half on Vulcan (our first glimpse at his home world!)

TOS: "The Menagerie, Part I & Part II"
TNG: I was a big fan of any episode with Q in it.
Also, the Moriatry arch was very entertaining (I believe it starts in Season 2 with "Elementary, Dear Data").
Season 3 opener "Evolution" cuz "Wesley" is my original nerd boy crush and it's a good episode anyway. I think Season 3 might be my favorite overall.
OMG "Time's Arrow" (end of Season 4, start of Season 5) was the first time I recall being peeved by a summer break cliffhanger. I was so mad. hahhaa
There are a ton more, but I'm just going to prove how uber nerdy I am, so I'll leave it at that.

That one.

I also love the TNG where they get addicted to the video game.

And many, many others. But those were the first two that popped into my head.

Oh man, the alternate flute playing life! I remember that vividly. I felt robbed at the end. But at the same time I was like HUH lucky bastard.

The Inner Light. For a second I was getting it confused with the "Lessons" episode where he and that new science officer start playing duets.

"Yesterday's Enterprise" is the one where they continually play the same hand of poker, over and over again, and guest-star's Kelsey Gramar (Fraiser Crane!) THAT'S THE BEST ONE.

Also great: Picard's rest up on Earth after being possessed by the Borg, probably titled "Renee" but I'm not sure.

I realize DS9 got pretty fun after they relaxed Roddenbury's rules on making everyone get along, but I still can't bring myself to give a fuck about that or any of the laters...
