Where can I get some adult sized galoshes in Seattle before snowpocalypse 2010?

Preferably some that are at least semi-fashionable, as I'm female and care about fashion. I don't want those big, green/black rubber boots that my grandpa wears to walk around in the yard when it's swampy.

I find that the ankle-high Xtra Tufs work pretty well and aren't particularly hideous-looking:

When I was in Alaska in July, everyone was wearing either these or the full-height boot version. Fisheries Supply is right across the street from Gasworks Park - they have them in abundance.

I haven't seen a lot of rain boots in stores around here lately. Nordstrom and Macy's both carry some cute galoshes, but I think they tend to appear in the fall and spring more than winter. Have you tried endless.com ? I just did a quick search for rain boots and they appear to have quite the selection. I've ordered from them before with good results - it's free overnight shipping and free returns. I think they are an offshoot of amazon.

Fred Meyer. I saw them at the Lake City location on Sunday.

Galoshes are terrible for snow. (Dear British snobs, Wellingtons don't exist in America.) They are for wet weather, if you're going to be tromping around in snow, get snow boots; ugly, utilitarian snow boots.

I was recently at DSW and noticed the ladies' section had a big selection of rubber boots. The downside is you have to go to Northgate Mall.

You mean wellies? Galoshes are those weird rubber slippers that go over your regular shoes. Wellington boots are what you're looking for. Let me know if you find any mens size 11.5 ones with with the little frog eyes. I'm a giant child.

If you have small feet, you can buy them in any childrens' shoe department - they always have snow boots and rainboots for kids. That's where I get all mine, but you have to have (women's) size 6 or smaller feet.

It's true that they're terrible for snow. Most have little or no traction, and they're cold. If you insist on traipsing about in them when it's freezing, invest in some knee-high wool socks.

I second Target. Saw some cute ones there for about $25. I got mine at Salvation Army and they are even cuter but was probably an isolated incident.

Oh, and, there will be no Snowpocalypse 2010. So don't worry.

I got mine at target.com for $25. I also picked up a pair of fancier Tommy Hilfiger rain boots for my mom last week at Macy's. They were closer to $40.
