Tulips blooming too early?

I have some tulip plants in a pot I bought last year. They were left out on the porch and not watered after they completed blooming. I forgot about them. I went out to the porch and noticed they are starting to sprout - the green is starting to show but it's seasonally too early. What should I do with them now?

don't fret! just make sure there's some soil covering those guys up - you might have to add a few handfuls if you've ignored them for so long - and they'll bloom happily. the best thing about tulips is they are extra-low maintenance due to the sack-lunch-of-a-bulb that they created for themselves last spring while you ignored them. they've got all the nutrition they need.

if you see that there should be some nights of frost coming soon, though, bring those little guys inside overnight. tulips in pots are a bit more vulnerable to frost damage than tulips in soil.

It is not too early. I noticed mine in the garden are also poking out(I'm in rural Shelton). Either put them in the ground somewhere or move them away from the shelter of the house(and extra warmth). They know what they are doing and will be fine.
