Where Did You Meet Your Significant Other?

I'd venture the top answers will be

a) bar
b) work
c) online

but I'm just guessing.

Feel free to elaborate.

Slog! Seriously. Jon contacted me online about a thread we were both posting on, I told him he should come to the upcoming Slog Happy, and he showed up. Within two weeks we were "official," we moved in together a year later, and we'll be celebrating our second anniversary in March. I know that counts as "online," but it still seems special to me.

At a bar. Barca, to be exact. I went out to meet up with a friend, who didn't answer his phone. So I called my old roommate who was at Barca with some random dude. I crash their little party, my old roomie leaves, and I end up staying at the bar for 3 hours talking to this guy. I asked him for his number at the end of the night, which he refused to give me, and instead took mine. We hung out two days later, and that was pretty much it. Now we live together.

Work. I transferred into the group he was in. We sort of took one look at each other and fell in lust, but didn't do anything about it for months, as we were both married (unhappily) to others at that point.

Online. She lived about three blocks away, but I didn't know her until she signed on to a email list I ran. We had a mutual friend, a crazy German guy who travels the world six months a year, who had been telling us separately for years that we should meet up. Mutual interests, you know. He was right.

At an "all night warehouse party" many many years ago (about 15, to be precise) in Upstate New York. She asked me for a light.

2 years later we met up again at random a few blocks from my school and went out for lunch, and here we are.

In college. She was the roommate of a girl I had been dating not seriously.
We bumped into each other again as we registered for summer classes a year or two later, and she invited me over for Sunday dinner. We started dating from there, and it moved slowly into a more permanent thing.... about a dozen years later, after living together for seven, we got married.

Nothing so dramatic as Love at First Sight... or web site... or even cruising bars...

In college-- we had the same classes and were in the same clubs. We broke up after graduation, and then reconnected at a mutual friend's wedding (to yet another old classmate of ours).

We met through mutual friends. We were friends or acquaintances for many years before hooking up in a relationship.
