What are some songs with post-apocalyptic lyrics?

I'm trying to woo a sci-fi fan by making him a cd of post-apocalyptic songs. I've got a few so far, but not enough for a decent mix. Any suggestions? Help this girl attract the nerd of her dreams?

(These are more sci-fi in general, not specifically post-apocalyptic - might be kinda hard to fill a whole album with just that theme)

    1. You are awesome for doing this.

    2. Deltron 3030 - Deltron 3030

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7_jbluF0qo

    3. The Thermals - Here's your future. (this would be a fantastic opening song)

    4. The Humans are Dead by Flight of the Conchords

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvrva8NoMLM

    5. Postal Service - We Will Become Silhouettes (very post-apocalyptic

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQs54Jb8Uh4

    6. Antony and the Johnsons - Daylight and the Sun

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJPgWW3MKUY

    7. Blur - Battery in your leg (never sure if this is actually sci-fi, but it mentions putting a battery in your leg, which is an image that i love)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaANmMXcPoo

or Strange News From Another Star by Blur (more post-apocalyptic)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IM7eBl_9_ps

    8. Another Space Song by Failure

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7dHX-YcufU

    9. Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hq-W-4Izjwc

    10. Jed The Humanoid - Granddaddy

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QhivyrMaeI

    11. Lovecraft in Brooklyn

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSj9LfA961o

That's the ones I can find on my i-tunes that I remember loving for their sci-fi themes. Always glad to help with the woo-ing of a sci fi nerd, they are generally a pretty good group of people. : )

"Nothing but flowers" by Talking Heads. It's so post-apocalyptic...despite the cheerful melody.

Kiddo, you're going to need to get him some Klaus Nomi, especially the tracks "After The Fall" and "Total Eclipse." New wave operatic post-apocalypse goodness.

"The Old Ones" and "Smoking Her Wings" by the Bats
both remind me of some story I read a long time ago but can't quite remember, maybe like Ursula K LeGuin or Octavia Butler.

On the electronic music with a heavy space lean tip: Luke Vibert's 'Space Race'. It may be a little hard to find, but it should be out there. It has a bit of a 'Space Oddity' vibe with what sounds like a 50s or 60s sci-fi recording about being in space put through a voice modulator.

Also, even though its an instrumental, you can't beat the title: The Future Sound of London 'Eyes Pop - Skin Explodes - Everybody Dead'. Whoa.

The Doors' Ship of Fools came immediately to mind. "The human race was dying out..."

You want nerdy? The Chorus of King of the World, by Steely Dan: "No marigolds in the promised land, there's a hole in the ground where they used to grow, any man left on the Rio Grande, is the King of the World, as far as I know."

Gary Numan - Down in the Park

Might be more dystopian than post-apocalyptic, but it's great. Foo Fighters did a nice cover of it, too.

    Awesome idea, by the way.

There's a local band with post-apocalyptic as part of its hyphenated myspace genre:

josh is right on with godspeed you! black emperor ("raise your skinny fists like antennas to heaven" would also yield some good stuff). if you're shooting for more of an atmosphere of post-apocalypticism(?) anything from the second half of sigur ros' album () would be great (especially tracks 6 and 8).

What kind of music does he like? Also, pretty much any '80s metal band has at least one song about nuclear apocalypse.

I'm not sure if the lyrics really are post-apocalyptic, but the "Afghamistam" by Botch has a sort of creepy feel overall.

A couple of Black Sabbath songs come to mind, particularly Electric Funeral and Into the Void. And, don't forget 1999 by Prince.
