Where can you buy stripper-pants?

You tell me .

I would like to find a pair of black pants that could pass as normal dress slacks (not athletic or sweatpants), that can be yanked off in one fell swoop. How much would one pay for something like this? I would prefer to buy locally, but I recognize that this may not be an option.

I am not crafty enough to make a pair myself, and don't think I have the time, pattern, materials, or cash to have a pair custom-made, unless it they could just cut the seams of an *existing* pair of slacks and reattach w/Velcro? And maybe that wouldn't even be any quicker, easier, or cheaper.

For the pants -- yes, go with an existing pair. That way, the pants will actually fit you and look normal. Go for a pair that are a little loose, so the seams don't come apart before you're ready. Use a seam ripper to pull apart the inside seam and then stitch in whatever tear-away method you're going with.

As for the tearaway method, don't use velcro, at least not a long strip of it. Velcro is surprisingly strong, and you won't look particularly suave yanking continually at your crotch to get them to come off. I've heard that you can shave it (for reals) to make it less grabby, but I've never tried this. I think this should be your last resort.

First choice for me would be magnets in combination with covered steel corset boning, sewn into the seams. You can get small, fairly strong magnets from a hardware store, and someplace like Nancy's Sewing Basket or Pacific Fabrics. This should give a clean, silent tearaway, with only one good tug. Added bonus: you'll be able to reuse the costume.

You might also be able to do a long row of snaps -- http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/productdetail.jsp?CATID=cat3260&PRODID=prd1068 -- though wax them with a bit of candle wax before installing so that they aren't quite so sticky. Again, it's hard to judge how hard you'll need to tug at this to get it to come apart; most fabric stores have rolls of this stuff, so you can play with it a bit before you buy it.

A less stable but faster shortcut would be opening up the seam and then closing again with a loose basting stitch, though I suspect this will require a substantial tug, too.

    Have fun!

Myrna's answer is beautiful... but Damien says he's not crafty enough to make them.

For purchase, try: Fantasy Unlimited on Westlake and Champion Costume on Denny Way.
Also there's a number of XXX bookstores/adult novelty shops in the OakTree region of highway 99 that could be sources.

Keep in mind alterations (e.g. via a seamtress) are actually quite inexpensive.

    Good luck
