Songs about intergenerational warfare?

You guys were so helpful with my stalker playlist, I was wondering if you could help me out here. The idea for this one is going to be songs about generation gaps, one generation not understanding another or being afraid of another. "Teenagers" by My Chemical Romance (lyrics "Teenagers scare the living shit out of me"); "Uniform" by Bloc Party (lyrics "No one can be trusted over the age of fourteen"); "Prisoner of Society" by The Living End; maybe "We Didn't Start the Fire" by Billy Joel.

I'd prefer a more even mix of oldsters not understanding youngsters but most of the ones I've come up with are a younger generation's response to an older one.

But I'll take what I can get.

Thank you!

Studfinder, "I hope I die before I get old" is in My Generation--which would be an excellent choice for such a playlist. (and the song you mean is called Baba O'Riley).

    Some other good ones-

The Real Me-also by The Who (and featuring one of the best basslines of all time

The Ascent of Stan-Ben Folds 5 (About "changing sides" without realizing as one gets old)

    Army-Ben Folds Five

    Almost Cut My Hair-CSNY

    Career Opportunities- The Clash

I'll never give it up-Richard Thompson

Honor Thy Father-Dream Theater (GREAT prog-metal stuff)

Anything from the soundtrack to Hair

and of course, The Times They are A'Changin bu Bob Dylan: "Come mothers and fathers throughout the land/and don't criticize what you can't understand/your sons and your daughters are beyond your command/your old road is rapidly agin'/ please get out of the new one if you can't lend your hand/for the times, they are a'changin"

    Independence Day--Bruce Springsteen

Slipping Through My Fingers--ABBA (hey, you didn't rule out cheesy pop, and it's about a parent losing touch with a daughter who's growing up)

Not about warfare, but definitely about not understanding.

Frank Zappa (Mothers of Invention) - "Hungry Freaks, Daddy" & "Mom and Dad"

    Dead Kennedys - "Straight A's"

DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince - "Parents Just Don't Understand"

Cat Stevens - "Father & Son" (or perhaps the Johnny Cash & Fiona Apple version if you want something different)

    DRI - "Mad Man"

Those are all from the younger generations' perspective. The other way around is tough ... maybe if you delve into some modern country or something, but it's hard to imagine it being good.

And the Fresh Prince song is the newest one on the list, so I guess I'm showing my age. The kids today, I just don't get it.

"The Shape of Things to Come", sung by Max Frost and the Troopers in the late 60s American International movie "Wild in the Streets". Definiitely made the charts as a single, but I don't know how high it got.

    Sample lyrics:
"There's a new sun, risin' up angry in the sky.
    There's revolution...
The old world is make-believe, blind, deaf and dumb. But nothing can change the shape of things to come!"
