Corn dogs (and/or drive-ins) on the Eastside?

I've been craving a good ol' fashioned, white-trash, deep fried corn dog lately, so much so that I'm debating a smallish road-trip to hit up a Sonic (I'm from the Midwest, I've missed them).

Before I embark on that, anyone have suggestions for a better option?

I'm sad to say the nearest place I know of with corn dogs is in Seattle: Danny's Wonder Freeze in the Pike Place Market. It's a tiny window in the pedestrian hall just across from the big newsstand, right near DeLaurenti's. It's a serious hand-dipped corn dog just like the State Fair. And you can get an egg cream or a dipped cone while you're there.

There is also a Hot Dog On A Stick in the Alderwood Mall in Lynnwood.

Matt's Gourmet Hot Dogs in Totem Lake doesn't have corn dogs, but does have good chili dogs and Chicago-style dogs.

As for drive-ins, I second the recommendation for Burgermaster.

It also seems like it wouldn't be too difficult to fry a corn dog. The batter isn't much more complicated than corn bread, and I think you could make it in a skillet the way you'd make pan-fried chicken - fry one side, then turn it over with tongs and fry the other. It might be a little uneven, but I bet it'll taste great.

    Good luck!

There is a hot dog cart in the parking lot of the Home Depot in Redmond. I don't know if they have corn dogs, but that might satify your craving.

Also, if you're willing to venture into the city, Unicorn on Capitol Hill has really good fair-style deep-fried corndogs for $3 (less during HH, I think.)

Not an answer to the corn-dog question, but for a drive-in on the Eastside there is always Burgermaster by the Bellevue Way exit off of 520.

I don't know if they do corn dogs, but Burgermaster is a great drive-in that I miss now that I'm in Denver. There's one in Kirkland near 520 and I-405.

Most AM/PM mini-marts have them under the warmer. Not sure how fresh they are, where/how they're made, or if they're "good ol' fashioned", but they're readily available.
