Undereye circles- help!

I have a four month old babe and I work 5am until 1:30, so needless to say- major undereye circles. I usually don't wear any makeup, but I'm thinking something might be necessary. Any suggestions for a neutral powder or some magical thing to help me look refreshed? Extra exciting if it's a natural/organic product (although I used to use clinique powder, so don't keep any suggestions back!)

Find eye cream or lotion that is enriched with vitamins C, K and E to help strengthen the skin under your eyes, and then as far as make up, use a concealer that has a golden tint (to offset the darkness) and that is a bit lighter than whatever concealer/foundation you would put on the rest of your face. Just beware of going too light, because then it could be more noticeable!

Also, chamomile tea is supposedly good for your skin as well.

Sephora carries two all-natural preservative-free brands that I like a lot: Boscia (mostly skincare), and Tarte (mostly makeup).

I would not wear powder right under your eyes, because it will fall into creases and make you look even more tired. One of Tarte's two concealers (they have an all-purpose one and another specifically for eye circles) should do the trick if you need a drastic change-- go into a Sephora and have an employee help you pick the correct color. Or, if you prefer to avoid that sort of thing, try a tinted moisturizer instead. I actually wear Tarte's tinted moisturizer in place of "real" makeup most days.

If your eyes are puffy and tired, just a cold compress for a few minutes works wonders. And drinking lots of water is a great idea, minimum 1 oz per pound of body weight every day.

Congratulations on your new baby! :)

If you never wear makeup, wearing ANY will make a difference. Moisturize under your eyes (like others have said) then use a cream/stick concealer. If you don't want to spend a lot, or mostly shop at drugstores, the brands I like best are L'Oreal or Neutrogena. They both have concealer in a cream or stick form.

Most places will carry a natural/organic cosmetics brand like Burt's Bees or Yes to Carrots. They might not have a concealer, but (depending on the store's selection) they should have a moisturizer that will help perk up your skin and restore vitamins you're missing from lack of sleeping/eating enough. (http://www.yestocarrots.com/index.html)

Even easier? Clean & Clear Eye Brightening Cream. You can get it at drugstores too, and looks like this:

    Good luck, mama!

Try Benefit's Boi-ing creme concealer for under eye. It blends easily, so you don't have to put a full face of make up on. Also, a little blush can help to make you look less tired. Of course, the best cure is sleep, but if you can't get that, then try the make up!

It's hokey, but the cucumber slices trick helps with the eye circles really well.

You might like the Radiance line from Burt's Bees--it has a bit of mica for shimmer that really helps even and brighten skin tone in my experience.

Also, Physician's Formula products help me out quite a bit. I don't wear makeup much/if I can avoid it, but these products have a built in color blending that helps even out skin tone and my amateur efforts.

If you have coffee grounds around, try a coffee mask 1-2 times a week. Mix 3TB used grounds with a small amount of milk, then apply to your face, avoiding eyes and mouth. Let it dry (it stays on), then rinse off (water only). I usually rinse in the shower. Wash your face with soap before applying the mask, not after.

The caffeine in the coffee helps sagging skin and the milk + the oils in the coffee make your skin really soft. More than 1-2 times a week may irritate your skin, though.

I have a six week old baby and am having some luck getting her to sleep by spiking her bottle with whiskey following the precepts of the book On Becoming Babywise .  She'll sleep for five or six hours straight at night when she's not having gas pains (sigh), and the book swears she'll be up to ten or eleven hours around 12 weeks. A classmate's kid was sleeping 10 hours a night at eight weeks, so it gives me hope.

The plan is pretty basic: the kid goes on a feed-wake-sleep cycle during the day, and supposedly this helps them organize their sleep patterns. Maybe you could use the tools in the book to get your kid to sleep solidly on your schedule...?

Every kid is different, so maybe this wouldn't work for you, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

Good luck, from one fellow zombie to another.
