Gears of War 3 is an Xbox 360 exclusive third-person shooter game set for release in Q4 2011. It is developed by Epic Games and published by Microsoft. GoW3 will feature a 4-player co-op mode and introduce three playable female characters. It will also have lots of awesome new weapons (like the Digger Launcher or the Pendulum War Era Lancer), and even a mech suit equipped with a machinegun and rocket launcher. GoW is definitely a very popular series, so Gears of War 3 is most likely going to be one of the bestselling new Xbox 360 games in 2011. characters.

Nowhere right now. All the European leagues (aside from Russia) are done for the season. Starts again in August. Right now your choices are MLS, Mexican League, or one of the South American leagues. Those last two will require the bar to have Univision or Gol!, which might be a problem on the Hill. MLS is sometimes on more common channels, but might be a hard thing to find tuned in on the Hill. It's just not a sports kind of place. Maybe the Roanoke, for Sounders games only?

During the European seasons, you might have better luck, but still the best places are all off the hill. Bear in mind that the games generally take place at uncomfortable hours in the morning; not everyone is up for a nice pint or two at 7 AM. But if you are, the George and Dragon in Fremont is a top spot, as is Fado downtown, and St. Andrews on Aurora near Green Lake. They'll usually replay the matches later in the evening, but be aware that if you already know the result from earlier and blab it out loud large angry men will ruin your night.

There are games being shown now on the screens of soccer-specific bars, such as the Copa Oro (CONCACAF Gold Cup, national teams from North America, Central America, and the Caribbean, which Mexico is utterly dominating at the moment). Many places will be showing the USA games. But the biggest game coming up is Sounders v. New York Red Bulls, Thursday at 4:30 PM.

Oh man, I feel for you! I like the suggestion of changing your resolution (I am so going to try that myself), but I gotta admit, when I'm motion sicking all over a game I just pop the non-drowsy Dramamine. Man, I love that stuff!

You might want to check the settings on whatever games you are playing and see if you can turn off things like "head bob" or "move with camera" or something like that.

A lot of games have realistic motion and movement as a character runs to give the game a better feel. But that often means that the screen itself if bobbing and moving as if someone was running. That likely contributes to your motion sickness.

A couple of suggestions (with the caveat that I'm not a gamer).

1. Get significant distance from your screen. See if you can find a way to hook up your computer to a TV, or barring that, borrow a projector for a little while. The nausea may have to do with the fact that when you're so close to your computer screen the tunnel vision is intensified, and there's not as much in your peripheral vision.

2. Start eating a LOT more ginger. It's been shown to be pretty effective against nausea (thank you, Mythbusters!), and it may help you here.

Otherwise, you might need to just break up your playing time to allow yourself to chill out.

There are some fun side-scroller type games on XBLA that are co-op, like Castle Crashers and Scott Pilgrim.

You should check out Borderlands. It's a shooter with several RPG elements and a unique graphical style. It's a decent single-player game, but the design focus was really the coop play, and it's loads of fun.

I'll second Deus Ex and Morrowind. GTA 3 is also great, and the GTAs previous to that one are good too, though I never played them.

If you like shooters and are looking WAY back, Castle Wolfenstein 3D and Doom are classics.

My favorite game from the early 90s was X-wing, a spaceflight combat simulator. No idea where one would find that one.

Speaking of which, many of these are probably hard to find. You can get legit (and cheap) copies of many of these via Steam, just fyi. Also, last time I was at Half Price Books, there were a lot of older games for sale.

Ditto on Diablo II and any of the Sierra Studios city builders. I think the series Pharaoh had the best art style and mood, but Zeus did the best job of marrying function with fun and humour.

Of course, Sim City 4 and Starcraft I. My boyfriend also recently got hooked (again) on Deus Ex and I see it here, so something to add.

Like everyone else, I don't know how old you're talking. My old PC, which ran Windows 98 and 2k but nothing more advanced, had three games that sucked up all my time:
-Master of Orion 2
-Civilization 2
-Lemmings

Another good thing for an old computer is to get a Super NES and Sega emulator, and play roms on it. I'm not sure exactly how legal that is, but the general consensus seemed to be that if you owned the cartridge, it was okay to play the rom. I doubt anyone cares these days about old SNES roms, but it still is technically a copyright violation.

There are many good answers that can be given here and many have been given (older Civs, older GTAs also get my votes).

But let me just say that for the quality of "awesome", few games can compete with Little Big Adventure (works on a 486) and Little Big Adventure 2 (Works on the earliest Pentiums). Action-adventure, filled with bipedal elephant-like creatures with hilarious accents (grobos) among a bevy of super-imaginatively made creatures, aliens, car races, a few puzzles, bouncy balls that you shoot at people, sandbox-ness, awesome music ... everything to love and nothing not to.

Morrowind: Elder Scrolls III

You didn't say how old this computer is, but the minimum requirements for Morrowind are a 500 MHz CPU, 256 MB of RAM, and a DirectX8.1 video card with 32 MB of video memory.

Oni is great fun.

I will second Diablo and Deus Ex. Deus Ex especially was an amazing game for its day, and still holds up absurdly well.

System Shock 1&2 perhaps (graphics are old and choppy), Baldur's Gates I & II, Fallout I and II, any of the Sierra adventure and Lucas Art adeventure titles, Diablo I&II, Starcrafts, Plainscape Torment, and non-WOW Warcrafts.

Try gog.com to get a bunch of older games on download--they're cheap and set up to run on XP and other OSs. Pretty much everything I've listed is on there, and there are even some free games.

Fallout 1, Fallout 2, Civilization..3? probably would work, Dues Ex. Pretty much anything from about 10 years ago would work. Look up best of lists for around that time.
