  • What's with all the -1 ratings?

    Hey Sacrelicious,

We had to back out a bunch of votes over the weekend due to an isolated case of voting abuse so the scores and ranking got shuffled around a bit. I'm in the process of correcting the -1's so they should be fixed soon. Thanks and sorry for the confusion.

  • 'Verification' merely makes a separate FB QL account?

    Hey Audiovore,
Your Facebook account uses a different email address than the one you used on Questionland so it couldn't make the association and, therefore, created a new Questionland account.

I fixed it so your Facebook account is now connected (and verified) to your first Questionland account.

  • What's the best way to give follow-up info on a question?

    Sacrelicious and CrazyCat Lady,

First off, let me apologize for not answering Stinkbug's original question. Quite pathetic really. We'll do better.

Second, I agree with all your suggestions.

Followup on results: I'm not exactly sure how to implement this but I will confer with Gnome. It's a subject that we have discussed in the past. The simplest may be to have another section for "results" which can be completed after the mushroom is awarded.

Following a question: This is something we've wanted for a long time and it's simply been bumped in favor of things like mobile etc. But I know for a fact that the Gnome is dedicated to making this happen.

Awarding Mushrooms: You know that you can always give someone a mushroom and then change it later based on either a better answer or a better result. I know it's not great to give and then take away, but probably better than forgetting about it. In the end may the best answer win the mushroom, so when you have one that warrants a mushroom then award it and change it if something better comes along.

Commenting on a question: I know you didn't specifically bring this up but I think it would be good to be able to ask for clarification on a question (essentially a comment). THe only concern here is the desire to keep things as simple as possible and ensure that people don't make the mistake of answering a question in the clarification/comment area. But that's a simple usability issue which we should be able to solve.

So, when will it all happen? It's hard to give specifics because the list of things is long and the Gnome can only do so much. The best I can do for now is say that at a minimum they are all things we want to make happen and will do our best to release as soon as feasible.

Thanks for the feedback it is much appreciated and helps make sure that we stay focused on doing the right things.

I'll be back to you when I have spoken to the Gnome and have a better idea of timing.

  • So just how many pizzas does Mike G win for his answer?

Sorry Russ- we've gotten behind on Answer of the Week. We'll have a new one up today.

  • Can I not delete a question?!
    555_pinout_small

You can edit content for 15 minutes after you add it and then it's fixed. So in theory you could delete a question (remove the content) at that point, otherwise you can't.

    The rationale behind this is:

    1. People will answer your questions and if you delete it then you would also be deleting their answers. Clearly we can't let someone delete another persons content. We have discussed being able to delete a question before it is answered but it's never made the priority list (yet).

    2. If you could edit or delete content after the fact then you would be changing the context of the "discussion" e.g. when someone refers to your answer or doesn't mention things you said to avoid repetition.

Hope that makes sense. We are always open to ideas/suggestions for making things better. I talk to the Gnome regularly (to the extent that guy talks) and as he likes to say: "It's great when someone ELSE comes up with a good idea now and then".

  • How did you change up your screen name? Am I totally clueless here or did you have to email/contact admin?
    Sacri_ordines_by_charism_small

In short: I emailed Charles. There's no button / self-adjusting one's handle in Qland.

some links that led me to take that course of action:

    Whatcha changing it to?

  • Has Questionland ever made it onto the Alexa list?
    555_pinout_small

We haven't made it on there (yet) and have never requested (paid for!) an audit. You can see traffic reports (of varying accuracy) on quantcast and compete.

The stats have all recently become facocked due to the change in our URL from The Stranger subdomain to just Questionland. It's just starting to straighten out again.

If you are looking for some specific info I might be able to let you know since we track most of the stuff in Google Analytics.
