The first season was on CityTV before moving to HBO Canada for Seasons Two and Three. The great song that opens the show is One Great City! by The Weakerthans.

The first season was available on CityTV's website, but has been removed. Probably would have been an international copyright issue watching it in the States from a Canadian TV website though. There usually is. I was fortunate enough to reside in Vancouver when it premiered.

Still, ask a friend who is a computer nerd about where one might be able to watch all three seasons (wink,wink). I've checked out Indigo's website (the former Chapters in Canada) and a DVD is as of yet unavailable.

Maury Chaykin's character, Sam Blecher, the father, was in hospital for much of Season Two (and in fact, Mr. Chaykin was pretty ill in real time). He passed away in 2010 before Season Three. There was a big gap in time between taping the end of Season Two and the start of Season Three. I assume it was because writers didn't know how to proceed with a series when its star had died.

I'm very fond of this show, too. You have good taste, Griffin.

It doesn't appear to have been officially released on DVD, even in Canada.

There have been three seasons produced and in the US all will be exclusively available via DirectTV's Audience Network, which started with the first season in November 2011.

It is possible that it may appear for sale season by season after officially airing here, but you will have to keep monitoring that situation. The series had been released for broadcast in Canada, South Africa and Germany before coming to the US.

Triple Door comes to mind, also Dimitriou's Jazz Alley which is also very booth/table focused. During Summer, the concerts at Chateau St Michelle are also very picnic / sit-down in style: though often much to the frustration of the crowd and/or musicians: I was there for the Corrs some years back, and if one stood up, the Security folks would quickly swoop in and tell one to sit back down, or move to the Designated Dancing Area off to the side. Meanwhile the band seemed quite perplexed and was trying to figure out what was wrong that nobody was dancing to them despite their cajoling... *Very* Seattle.

By the way, Dimitriou's has both booth with table service, but also stools at the bar that still have good sightlines to the stage area, so those might be a good bet for a slightly more casual experience.

the triple door downtown is somewhat like that; it has really nice booths and table service in a theater setting, but what you're descibing sounds more casual. the triple door is a bit formal.

Did we ever deterimine if that short video for BPGJ was really just an audition tape for that comedian/actor?

Could the terms you are searching for be - the "titular line" that is spoken or the "titular role" for the person that speaks the line?

I know that at one performance of "An Iliad" by Denis O'Hare a women in the audience was so moved and/or disturbed by the performance that she interrupted it. Mr. O'Hare (who was also one of the playwrights) briefly broke character and spoke directly to the women. She left and the show continued.

I attended the preview screening last night. It's gorgeous, but about 20% of the audience seemed confused and/or bored. The pacing is definitely slow, and you have to pay attention (there's no hand-holding of the audience), but I loved it. For what it's worth, I have not read the books...afterwards, it seems that those who knew the novel(s) seemed to love it more...probably helped their comprehension of what was going on.

The biggest crime portrayed in the film? Benedict Cumberbatch's hairstyle! #Zing (Seriously, I love that man, but this blond cut is not very good).

There are some variations on whack-a-mole at the waterfront arcade, Pier 57. I think it's a cat n' mouse themed version.

i've heard of something similar but it was a book called counterfeit son by elaine marie alphin. heres the summary cameron miller is the son of a murderer. all he has ever known is the stench of the locked cellar, where he can hear the blows and cries showering down from upstairs, and his father's torrent of terror and abuse. his life is a nightmare. then a miracle happens: his father is killed in a police shoot-out. in the aftermath, cameron grabs the chance has for a normal life: he takes on the identity of Neil Lacey, a young boy who Mr.Miller had abducted six years ago. As Neil, he has a life that includes loving parents, a brother and sister, and the comforts only money can buy. but someone knows what Cameron's doing someone with the power to turn his life back into that nightmare. The whole true son is revealed at the end but I don't know if it was adapted into a movie.

Look for a player that has a continuous loop function as a feature. They are commonly used in presentation booths at trade shows and other places where you want a DVD to continuously replay.

I just searched for "dvd player loop function" and there were several listed, such as this one, and only $32.

Olympic Manor is my favorite...tons of lights and things to see.

Candy Cane Lane is fun and more impressive, but it's much smaller and there's usually traffic backups. Plan your visit accordingly.

Youtube videos can help with pronunciations. Rainn Wilson was on Jimmy Kimmel, for instance. It's "rain."

When the latest movie version of "The Thing" was released to theatres, suddenly the original 1983 Kurt Russel/John Carpenter's "The Thing" was getting flagged left and right.
As a result, you can watch nine 10 minute segments of the movie, but as soon as ANYONE uploads the final five minutes, it is immediately restricted, even Spanish language versions and captioned versions.
Go figure. Most of the movie is just fine, but the last 10th segment gets banned.

95% of the time, I will always pick the 2D version. The extra charge annoys me. And, in most cases, it is not even justified/worth it. After Avatar, studios got greedy and thought that adding 3D to everything is a great way to increase $. Especially for the films where the 3D is just added in post, it's such a waste. A few films can justify it, but I generally prefer the 2D version. But if you're in a smaller city, sometimes the 3D version is your only option (lame!). Also, sometimes, if the theatre switches between the two versions, the projector needs to do something when they switch back to 2D or the picture can be too dark (I learned this recently listening to the Doug Loves Movies podcast). If that's the case, apparently you can ask the theatre to fix it.
