1)you could never annoy me, Dan...vex me, perhaps; annoy me...NEVER!

    2)yes, he does!

    why?

Precision Polling and Voterlists aren't real ads...several of those are for non-profits and are either free ads or bringing in tiny amounts of money...Team Diva, the UW ad and the Roxy's Diner ad are not paying anyone's salary...barely covering basic webcosts.

uh, I mean they have NO ads, well, they have about two and they ain't paying the bills...

Who the hell is backing Publicola? They don't have any ads, and have a paid staff...

  • Would you frequent a lesbian-owned Cabaret Club that hosted the following...
    Mikeatsiffmain_small

1)Are you going for a Lesbian clientale or everyone? If you're going for Lesbian only, it will be a tough row...if it's a "everyone is welcome as long as you're not a bigoted asshole" type of place and you keep the penisphobia to a minimum, who cares if it's owned by a lesbian?

2)Seattle has many venues that host these kinds of events...what will you do to set yourself apart?

3)WHERE are you thinking of doing this? The Hill? Belltown? SoDo? a neighborhood that DOESN'T have similar type venues? Location is insanely important. Also, do you already have a space in mind? If so, is that space conducive for performance? Or, is it just another cramped, awkward, lame performance space? (Seattle doesn't need another one of those...)

4)My advice would be to go HIGHLY theatrical...make it a cool, event place but not too gimmicky. HIRE very capable, smart, level headed people to help you but don't put up with any diva-esque bullshit...it's your show, so run it with a firm but loving hand. And, your bar is where you make the money to do the fun shit...hire the best, smartest, most honest person you know with strong bar experience to run it.

5)Don't blow all your money on stupid shit like $80k street signage and expensive decor...if you have the money to do that, great, but many venues don't make it because they blow their money on the non-essential shit. Also, make sure you have the funding for extensive marketing/advertising. You can do a lot of cheap, guerilla stuff, and it's easy to get carried away with too much expensive marketing but if you're not a marketing person, then FIND a marketing person who knows how to reach your targeted audience AND spend your money wisely.

    Good luck.

  • What is the most emotionally crushing movie you can name?
    Mikeatsiffmain_small

Just watched "United 93" the film about 9/11 and the flight that crashed in Pennsylvania directed by Paul Greengrass...it's a brilliantly made but intense film that is hard to watch but well worth the emotional effort.

My heart was pounding and my fists were clenched for the entire film but the last 15 minutes just never lets up. Would not recommend watching this if you have to fly anytime soon...

Mr Poe was a real person but Loveschild seems blatantly fake in the tradition of Mr Birch Steen and Homo Ecce...judging by the differing writing styles, my guess is the Stranger staff takes turns using that pseudonym.

then again, the the same has been said of me...

  • Is there anything fun to do in Tacoma?
    Mikeatsiffmain_small

As all of Seattle's "hip" neighborhoods get pricier and gentrified and boring, I think Tacoma will be the new hip hangout in 10 years...

hmmmm...I thought that movie fell apart due to financing issues?

    interesting.
