    Thanks Jesica. It's nice to hear from someone who has recently had to make the same decision. And your questions are pertinent - certainly we'd never even contemplate any similar procedure being performed on our daughter. Ultimately, I think the answers to your informal poll (what it is wth the puns today?) speak for themselves. Thanks again.

    Thank you Janelle. Your answer was well reasoned and we appreciated the external links. We're trying to be as levelheaded about this as possible, but are finding that people generally feel quite strongly one way or the other, and that can cloud otherwise rational answers.
