It's a Concept 2. I will check that the seat isn't on backwards...I'm usually not that dumb when assembling stuff but you never know.

How to avoid sore tailbone from rowing?

  • Should I sport a man purse?
    Danish_small

I can't weigh in on the hot vs not of a man-purse, but I can say this:

When I convinced my husband (I'm a woman) to carry a purse, it meant I didn't have to carry all of his sh*t for him in my purse, nor did we have to repeatedly retrace our steps looking for the inevitable lost keys/wallet/checkbook/condoms/etc.

I got him a nice chocolate brown worn leather "mini messenger bag" and it is totally functional and very masculine. It took about two weeks for him to get used to carrying it everywhere.

As a guest of many weddings, I personally think that the best favors are edible. Get some bulk candy or nuts from a big box store, then colored cellophane (in your wedding colors) or tulle, cut in pieces, tie with a pretty ribbon or two (in your wedding colors) and TADA!

Slightly different idea: a favorite recipe or an assortment of them on card paper.

Thank you for your response. It is more nuanced than I realized before, and I am sorry that I was snarky in my reply.

If I "bought" anything at all, then so did everyone else on this board. It IS all about wedding planning, in case you didn't notice.

Your theory does not hold up, though. Graduating from medical school will be the most important moment of my life.

  • I have friends who are "photographers" (they've done some weddings). We're on a budget but should I shell out 40% of my budget to hire a professional?
    Danish_small

Unless your friends are professional wedding photographers, I wouldn't use them.

Here's an idea: get the most basic package you can from a professional photographer, perhaps just the posed shots of the bridal party after the ceremony. Then ask your friends to take the candid shots of the reception. You might not have to hire your pro's for quite so many hours, which would save you money, and then you could let your friends use their talents as a fantastic wedding gift, or better yet, pay them.

Am I a jerk for wanting a "real" wedding?

That is the big question. My parents are out of state, and his parents live in Japan. If we scrimped, we could afford a nanny, but my best option is the affordable day care available on the university campus for students. It's about half the cost of private day care and far less than a nanny. But the waiting list is likely to be long.
