I filter Slog comments HEAVILY - I use both the registered commenter filter and turn unregistered comments off. I have a hell of a lot of people filtered out. It raises the IQ level of Slog quite a lot.

You missed "The building the beaver gnawed" which is what we called the Rainier Bank Tower - what the hell is the name of that building now? - when it was first built.

When it's not in-season, you're much better off with frozen asparagus (which Trader Joe's has). The frozen stuff was picked and preserved in-season, so it's not like eating sulfurous green twigs.

What an incredible post. To quote only one thing from it that struck me especially strongly: "an inflexible rejection of the possibility that my pain is authentic, in favor of the consolatory belief that I am angry because I'm a feminist (rather than the truth: that I'm a feminist because I'm angry)."

I think people just have a weird need to have the taller figures on the left. It seems to bug people if they don't stair-step them in descending order.

Now I want to get some, just to mix them all up.

One thing I should have included in my original answer, by the way - if he's a true introvert, then pressuring him to be more extroverted will not only be stressful for him, it'll be exhausting. A true introvert recharges in solitude, even if they can take pleasure in company. A true extrovert recharges in company and finds solitude draining over the long term, even if they can sometimes take pleasure in it.

Being forced to socialize for a long time is really stressful and tiring for me, and will make me tune out and become hostile.

Second this answer. Worn foam can really make a couch uncomfortable, and the stuff compresses down with age. It's astonishing the difference new foam can make.

I remember noticing it (it was just last Sunday!) because I was grabbing a bottle of the Cholula sauce that I like, and the label caught my eye.

(and thank you for the mushroom. That was #50!)
