    When I was a kid I saw Dr. Fleege downtown. He had a pet monkey named PJ in the office. When I went to college I joined PETA for a short while and they told me that Dr. Fleege locked PJ in the closet at nights thus he was part of their leafleting campaigns. Later I read that PJ was retired and sent to a monkey sanctuary in Texas.

    Texting and dating: are there any rules?

    My opinions:

    Texting to set-up a date is not so good, even if the phone call is awkward and difficult directness is attractive. I would rather date someone who tries and ends up looking stupid than someone who leans towards passivity.
    Texting to confirm a date is practical.
    Texting while on a date is unattractive.

    Perfect example here.

    Charles B would check "LA" because his comment is condescending and superficial whereas I am "NY" as my comment was clever and meaningful.

    Why do most of the men in the 'Love Lab' (10:1 by my count) prefer New York to LA?

    My friend Derek explained this one to me.

    He said: "L.A. stands for the commercial consumer in America. Wide roads, new construction, strip malls, and greed. New York by constrast is city with history and meaning. Hole in the wall restaurants that win you over with their charm as opposed to their splendor.
