  • How can I find out how many times "God Only Knows" has been "covered" or recorded by other artists?
    Mspaint_dkff_small

There is an a cappella of "God Only Knows" on the 1996 box set The Pet Sounds Sessions. Hopefully, it's available digitally on a track by track basis. The box set is really nice, but you kinda have to been really REALLY into Brian Wilson and that album to feel it's worth the price of the whole box set.

Captain & Tenille have covered "God Only Knows" on their debut album. It is, arguably, the worst cover version ever recorded and released in music history. Be careful where you tread!

  • Does Daylight Savings give us an extra hour to drink tonight (Halloween)?
    Mspaint_dkff_small

Pedantry alert: we're switching to Standard Time, not Daylight Saving Time. But the effect described is the same. 2am tonight will technically become 1am.

That said, bars can close whenever they want, but I don't think too many bars on Halloween night going into the first hours of November 1st will want to cut back on last call, even if it means an extra hour of staying open.

  • Comment on Kip Waddle's answer…

Ballard Wgreen's is listed online as a future location to get the vaccine. I called them today three times. After I got hung up on the first two times, I asked if they were carrying the vaccine, and before I could complete my question, a woman said "No... Goodbye. *click*"

it's too bad Walgreen's is getting this but not other pharmacies in Seattle's NW quadrant so far (that aren't rude or disorganized.)

  • Will you get the h1n1 vaccine?
    Mspaint_dkff_small

I wish I could skip this vaccine. However, I have really bad asthma, and I'm prone to bad bronchitis even when I get mild colds. That puts me in the high risk category for h1n1.

I got my regular flu shot already (which I don't normally do), and I'm wanting an h1n1 vaccine as soon as I possibly can. I asked my doctor first, and he said I should pursue one.

  • Do you know anyone who was converted by Jack Chick?
    Mspaint_dkff_small

Jack Chick is/was based in Chino Hills CA. I lived much of my life in So Cal, so people handing out Chick tracts are a little more common there. Even my very religious grandmother would pull the curtains whenever the Chick Patrol would come a'knockin.

The answer is a weak yes. My grandfather worked with a construction contractor briefly. They stopped working together for separate reasons, but he did bring the tracts hone one day, and thought "these are really weird intense things coming from that nice dude"

today, I still find Jack Chick to be the most aesthetically gifted comic whose output earnestly makes me wretch, although practically makes me lol.

  • Can you recommend a conservative podcaster who isn't crazy?
    Mspaint_dkff_small

While I don't agree with about 98% of anything this blog produces, I don't find myself calling http://www.newmajority.com/ "crazy" much of the time.

David Frum is the frontman of the site, essentially, and he's one of the few conservatives that walked away from the embarrassing circular shooting range that NRO had become upon Obama's election. His credentials related to GWB upon perusal may make one roll eyes, but he's a bit more like William F. Buckley and son, perhaps slightly more moderate (and less prone to some heinous pieces that WFB Sr. wrote in the past.)

As for New Majority podcasts? Looks like the link is here:
    http://www.newmajority.com/podcasts

I'm all for providing links to conservative viewpoints that at least try to make their points earnestly, and aren't out to flat-out exploit the cult of anti-establishment.

Why do many Seattle drivers stop for jaywalkers?

  • Comment on Jack's answer…
    Mspaint_dkff_small

People don't know how to drive in rest of the world either.

  • Comment on Geni's answer…
    Mspaint_dkff_small

I'm not a doctor either, but out of the juices, cranberry is apparently the best.

Now I know to avoid sodas especially for this reason, thank you!

Good call. I feel dumb for not mentioning them, much more not salivating about em. I love the first three, and their later stuff too - but "Pink Flag" is an immediate grab.
