Yeah, don't be too envious, they practically start right beneath my collarbones.

  • Jiggly bra boobs?
    Beerkatherine_small

It's a fit issue. Chances are the cup is the right size, but the band is too small or too large. The straps are probably not adjusted properly, either.

There's also the issue of bounce v. jiggle. Bounce implies a sports-bra like uni-boob that moves independently of the rest of the body. Jiggle is more in concert(?) with the rest of the body. Does that make sense?

I jiggle a lot, but that's because my boobs are kind of high up on my chest and the full-coverage bras that would eliminate jiggle completely would make wearing anything but a crew neck impossible. Which would only serve to make me look even bigger than I am.

THIS. The only places in Oregon where my grass allergy is controllable is the coast. I also risk going into Tillamook for the cheese factory.

  • Is it WASHington or WORSHington?
    Beerkatherine_small

It depends... I grew up in Okanogan and multi-generational families from the area said (and say)"Warshington" and "squarsh." Colville tribal members, not so much, and transplants from Seattle and Spokane, never. Spend too much time in the shithole that is Wenatchee and you'll hear that "r" in lots of unexpected places.

I think that it was probably more prevalent before TV news standardized pronunciations. Talk radio in Eastern Washington is still full of that "r."

  • Knitting terminology - help!
    Beerkatherine_small

I've never heard SSK described in that way before... it stand for "Slip, Slip, Knit" and is usually done by slipping two stitches onto your working needle as if you're going to knit them, moving them back to needle holding the project, then knitting through the front of those two stitches together.

Handmade is great, but time-consuming. I customized white matchbooks with a set of "LOVE" rubber stamps. If I had more time, I would have bagged them up with a tea candle and a little pic of us.

  • Any good alternative treatments for PCOS?
    Beerkatherine_small

I have PCOS, and these are some of the things that I'm doing to help control it:

Metformin can help regulate blood sugar and insulin resistance (PCOS sufferers are usually insulin resistant). Get the Mirena IUD if you can - it releases a low dose of progesterone which can help regulate your crazy hormones and lessen your symptoms & acne. Get Vaniqa topical cream for your facial hair or look into electrolysis & lasers.

Also, I have to really pay attention to what I eat:

    - No soy products.

    - No Hugh Fructose Corn Syrup or Agave Syrup.

    - Eat low glycemic-index foods.

    - Make sure I'm getting enough protein and good fats in my diet. Low fat diets can make PCOS worse.

    - Take calcium and vitamin D.

    - Increase fiber intake.

I also had to increase my activity level and try to lose weight. I didn't have a doctor take me seriously about treating my PCOS until my blood pressure, respiration, and heart rate were EXEMPLARY.

I would only add The Outsiders to this list - otherwise it's perfect.

  • Where would you eat if you could only have one more meal out in Seattle?
    Beerkatherine_small

    Easy Street in West Seattle.
