  why am i seing more indie films with budgets not paying the talent, but paying the crew in Seattle?

  2 1 Not sure if the crew is really paid that much. Also, the talent at least gets direct exposure (if the film does well), which has a value in itself, and crew does not.   What kind of film town should Seattle aspire to be?

  I just heard that yet another TV series set in Seattle is being filmed in BC. WA state has a competetive film tax incentive, right? What gives?

  1 0 Really James Keblas should answer this question. It has his name all over it. I will say that Vancouver does not make indie films (or at least notable indie films). Seattle, however, does.   Is film school worth going to?

  Seattle considers themselves as an International city but the crew is made up of 95% caucasians. Why are there no african-am, asians, etc. hired?

  Is it easier to break into the film industry here in Seattle than it is down in LA?

  1 0 you explained all of the pros and cons of the maneuvering. the director i work with, Robinson Devor, opted for a spell in LA (for experience) and relocation to seattle. but that was in 2003. the present problem? there is no serious funding in seattle for films and private equity has pretty much dried up. during the recession, i recommend to go where the numbers are. charles mudede answered in Filmmaking Week about 1 year ago Answer, comment & read 6 more answers »

  What's the best way to shop around scripts without leaving Seattle?
