  0 0 Thank you both VERY MUCH for your time, advice, & help!!! The leasing agent had the manager call me & explained that she was new (to me it sounded like an excuse because how could she not know their practices?)but called some people (I forgot who) & that they're going to go ahead and apply the $299 to my deposit, JUST LIKE THAT... It gives me a wary feeling to know that they'd do that,(try to "pull one over" on a renter) If you were me, would you sign the lease or lose the $299 & try to find somewhere else?   0 0 I applied for an apartment yesterday & paid the $299 holding fee. I asked if I get it back & she said no, they keep it, that it also goes to getting the apt ready etc..when I signed the application, IT stated that the holding fee would go towards 1st months rent. I pointed that out to her and she said No, they don't do that, it's a mistake...and went into another office where they told her to just cross that part off (the "apply to 1st months rent") and have me sign it...so I did. Was that legal of them to cross that off? LMS commented about 1 year ago
