  Making my own hot sauce.

  1 0 Here's a recipe using from local canning teacher Vic Phelps. It uses Thai chilies (which are tiny and very very hot) but you could use it as a starting point to adjust to the chilies you do have. She also teaches hot sauce classes, BTW. And save some of the chipotle chilies for making black beans.   what is the most addictive sandwich in seattle?

  0 0 I second the "anything at Paseo" comment and add the egg sandwich at Nettletown, which I am a fiend for and won't shut up about. Perfectly cooked egg, great bread, nice bright veggies/sauce. Plus it's a bargain. I went out to eat today at a different restaurants with a friend who also likes the Nettletown sandwich. She ordered this other place's version of an egg sandwich, and afterwards declared that Nettletown had ruined her for all other egg sandwiches.   How do I get rid of ants that just won't die?

  1 0 I've heard that diatemeceous earth will work. And agree with Russ re moating the cat bowl. And ok, so one crazy thing that worked for me. Do you have a spidery household? If you do, and you tend to kill or move indoor spiders you might consider giving them a pass for a while in that area and they might help. I, too, had a cat bowl ant problem and nothing worked until some spiders in the area decided to pitch in. (This was accidental, I just happen to have a lax spider policy as they do not freak me out like insects do.) I then had to clean up some ant corpses for a couple weeks but after dealing with ants for so long, it was worth it. Since then, I haven't had a problem.   If you do not have a spidery household, I am not sure of an effective...like spider importing process, though... Good luck!   Seeking general random advice about going to France.

  1 0 This is a TOTALLY biased answer so take it with an appropriate grain of salt, but a longtime friend of mine is a travel writer and American ex-pat to France (today is actually the day she gets her dual citizenship!) and she writes a blog and newsletter called Secrets of Paris, which is focused on good, often off-the-beaten-track stuff for both the American traveler and ex-pat. You might check out her site for some ideas - there are free resource guides at the bottom of her main page.  End of plug! And from my own trips there, I have to say that while sitting in a cafe and people watching seems terribly cliched, it is still awesome. I also agree with Cedarthvader on dress; you'll feel more comfortable out and about if you are more put-together than one might typically be in the States. I hope you have a great time!
