For religious reasons, some Buddhists avoid onions and garlic, basically these stimulating foods, since they increase one's sexual desire when eaten cooked or anger when eaten raw. This belief goes for Transcendental Meditation followers which follow Ayurveda. The home town of TM--Fairfield, IA--has plenty of Indian food but without spiciness.
If you're feeling sexually unmotivated due to the heat, I would suggest eating more spicy food.
I did note in Southern Vietnam, the food was not spicy but really much more sweet and salty. It was actually surprisingly bland.
And another exception to the "closer to the equator" rule are Hawaiian (and Polynesian?) dishes, which really aren't spicy but often quite sweet. Guess where teriyaki was invented?
