Yeah, I sent her that letter already and that's when she claimed I was being hostile and aggressive. So we'll see.

    Thank you!

Is it 14 days from when we turned over the keys, or 14 days from when we vacated? We vacated the apartment, and stated in our termination of lease document that we would be out of the apartment on December 21, but she never showed up to our walk through. We kept the keys, and my roommate who is still in Seattle, left the keys in the apartment on the 1st, after their 'second' walk through.

She hasn't really been working with us. We call her, she doesn't answer, but sends an email ten minutes later, full of grammar and spelling errors, 'like's and is just overall very unprofessional. I wrote her a very professional letter, being firm but not bitchy (approved by old landlord), and she accused me of being aggressive and hostile. I've decided to get all the information I can and refrain from talking to her until we get our deposit back.
Anyway, thank you for all the links and information! I appreciate it, greatly.

I assumed the budget cuts. It's just frustrating, especially when I can't pop in and talk to them.
I read that the new law is 14 days. One of many issues is that she went against our lease as far as a 'non refundable under any circumstances' cleaning fee is concerned; she said she'd refund it as long as we got our carpets and blinds professionally cleaned. Which we did after some arguing, but now she's threatened to not pay it now. So we're out more than what we started with.
This is the first issue I've had with landlords--otherwise I've been pretty lucky.

    Thanks for your tips!

Marshmallows=hard. Very hard if you don't have the right tools.
