  What's with all the military jets the past week?

  0 0 It's the 50th Anniversary of the Korean War and I'm thinkin' that might have something to do with it. The only time fighter jets are deployed on American soil is for celebration, an ode- to historic revelry, or a veteran's funeral (with military funeral service, "with colors"). I'm a former military photojournalist that documented most of the branches along with lots of ceremonies and "dog and pony shows." I should also say that fighter jets were deployed for strategic purposes on 911 to protect the president and civilians. The military does not demonstrate a show of force on our lands unless the DOD has issued a higher FPCON (to indicate a foreign terrorist threat to our military and civilians), or DEFCON (which indicates an increase in the amount of military resources needed to fend of an almost certain attack). Trust me, if there was a DEFCON and the FPCON went up, then the American people would know and be alerted. You can't get much past Americans. If the military had to do something Classified or Top Secret, then they would do it in a more covert way (not fly a bunch of loud aircraft around town for 1,000s of spectators to witness). Another reason for the display of these incredible military aircraft, is just plain and simple, they may've needed to train or practice (air maneuvers). And, we do want them to know what they're doing, right?
