  Best voice-over mic under $800 for a small home studio.

  1 0 Hi- Regarding noise: Are you using a sound card or Pro Tools? The quality of the the mic preamp, the sound card, the mic, and your studio AC power will all together determine the noise level you pick up from the radio towers, your fridge, your furnace etc. If you buy quality components, and can get some clean power (or turn major appliances off while your recording) then you should have radio and hum free recordings. Mic: What do you want to sound like? Howard Stern? Then go with an RE-50. Want something a little more versatile and open on the top end? Then try a large diaphragm condenser with multiple patterns and low end roll off like a AT 4050 or a AKG 414, both are in your price range. Space: Its all about the space and it will color your sound quite a bit. At 1130 ft per second, sound piles up fast in a 4'x4'x7.5' Try to use broadband absorption effective down to the lowest frequency you can obtain, this will also make it easier to find a mic that works Happy studio building!   0 0 Oops....I too, was trying to charm with the reference to a 10 foot poostick. Sometimes it just doesn't translate on the computer screen.   Are there local booking agents or promoters you enjoy working with and would recommend to a developing indie band?

  0 0 I don't have a list. How about: -List your goals and plans for your band so you know what you need from an agent and who you're ultimately looking for. -Consult with a number of agents and promoters to find a good fit. Remember, you're interviewing them, and they're considering taking you on as a client. -Network and find out if any of your friends or favorite bands have agents and promoters they like. You never know when someone has information, or a contact that can help you. Cross pollenization is also key.....Create the scene. Share your goals and information with others, and they in turn will share with you to find resources. Success won't occur in secret, or behind closed doors.
