    good to think about.

i rented a room in a group house that was foreclosed upon while we were tenants - i'm pretty certain one of my lovely housemates poured concrete down each and every one of the sink drains. inspection is KEY.

what sound advice - i went and found myself a real estate attorney yesterday. i'm still not sure if this is the fight for me but thanks for at least steering me in the right direction!

  • Best place to find a large pot for balcony/porch?
    Dsc_0148_small

you can spend a hella lot of dollars on pots. it is quite ridiculous.  this is especially because if you go to a place like home depot, they'll happily sell you a pot that looks identical for a third of the price. hooray!

if you need something that has a super-intense artesian-thrown hand-fired glaze on it with a modern shape, swanson's has a 25% off sale on their containers right now. caution: even if it were 50% off it would still be twice the price of something similar at home depot.

it's worth mentioning that giant, heavy pots are often so heavy you can't move them about.  that means you'll end up with a perfect circle of rotted, discolored wood on your porch in a year.  get a little pot dolly and save yourself a lot of trouble!

  • What's the best makeup that covers tattoos?
    Dsc_0148_small

kat von d's tattoo coverup is good stuff for covering up anything but tattoos.

i'd take a trip down to west seattle to the pacific northwest theater association store. they're really nice folks and they know makeup better than you'd think.  ben nye is a great brand, but it'd help to see what shade you need in person.

  • Where can I find this shirt in Parks and Rec?

    you lucky girl!  i hope you're a size 2, because it's on SALE! there's a size 0 and a 6 here.

    that was a fun game!

  • Least expensive place to buy 5-8 yards of bark/mulch?
    Dsc_0148_small

bedspread from the woodland park zoo's zoodoo program has the price for an 8x4 pickup bed for $50. you'll need to a) have a truck and b) win the zoodoo lottery.

  • Best comfortable gear to walk our dogs in cold rain like this...?
    Dsc_0148_small

my ideal climate is a dc summer.  since i live here and i can't live in a greenhouse, i invested in the best thing i've ever bought: this waterproof down-filled trench from patagonia.  waterproof, warm and guaranteed for life.

i don't know if this is the thing for you, but there are a few indoor dog playtimes around for those days when walking around the neighborhood is miserable.  ahimsa has an indoor playtime for adult dogs under twenty pounds on thursdays for $10, and petapoluza in fremont has a small dog playtime for free on wednesdays.  great dog in northgate has big adult dog playtime on saturdays for $10 and k9 fun zone has playtime for $10 on wednesdays and sundays.

true, true. its a horrible idea to fall in love with a house, especially one that's far from being on the market. but i've been shopping for 6 months and i know the neighborhood well - i live in it now - and this place is a steal even if i bought it at the posted value.

I have only 35% of the value in cash, so I cannot just offer these folks a check. also, how would that conversation go? "excuse me, I'm sorry about your financial woes - wanna sell?" is there a middle man for these sorts of situations?
