  • At what age is it no longer appropriate to worry about a few bucks when splitting a check?
    Avatar_default

It's totally about the ability to pay. If you're the starving artist/student/whatever hanging around a bunch of lawyers, and you're drinking water while they're ordering cocktail after cocktail, and then they suggest you split the check evenly, of course you should speak up.

But, if you're amongst friends who are in the same relative salary range, and all ordering somewhat the same amount of food or drink, go ahead and split it.

Frequently, I've seen the exact shares thing get rounded up, and the waiter gets like a 30% tip or something. I've also seen it rounded down and people have to be choked out of their $1 bills just to make it 15% tip.

P.S. Roller bags are relatively cheap. Since you seem to fly enough, why don't you, instead of risking the fee every time, just pay a one-time fee of $50-75 cost for getting a bag that fits?

  • If I print an airline ticket, and checkin online, can I sneak a bag on-board that's 1-2 inches oversize?
    Avatar_default

If the flight is full, they have been asking people to "check" their bags for free. So, you may be able to sneak it in that way.

But, if they don't ask, or you make it on the plane, and it won't fit, I have seen them collect fees from people.

They're going to be at the Mars Hill in Auburn. Not any of the Seattle campuses. I think its because its close to their hotel.

Well, given that you headlined your question with "How do I file for weekly unemployment claims while out of the country?" I'm sure you'll forgive me for assuming you're trying to file for benefits while you're out of the country.

I understand your dilemma; but, I can't answer that question. I was just giving you the heads up that the government may seek you out if you do file for claims while out of the country and not seeking jobs.

  • Are there any coffee shops or cafes with live music?
    Avatar_default

Periodically, Trabant in the U-District has live music, especially on weekends. The few times I've been in, the music was pretty granola. Also, they have really good coffee. Like, amazing coffee. MMM...Trabant, I miss living near you.

Also, just so you know: 9,000 people are being collected upon recuperate unemployment wages because they weren't actively seeking work (including one lady for going to Texas while collecting).

It doesn't answer your question, but it does let you know you could get possibly get your wages garnished or even sued if caught.

    Wasted on the Young
A non-funny mashup of Cruel Intentions and The Virgin Spring. Vigilante justice meets the rape-revenge genre in the fractured reality of modern youth. The main flaws lie in the hands of the first time director, who tries too hard to play with the medium in ways we've already seen. The techno soundtrack is brilliant, but it doesn't quite make up for the movie's fuzzy morality and not-quite-confident storytelling. The director is somebody to look out for once he gets his legs.

    High Road
Generic road movie meets pot-laced humor and improv as directed by Upright Citizen Brigade's Matt Walsh. Like all good improv comedy before it, it has both high points and low points, but what makes this movie work is its heart. What makes this movie almost fail is its surprising number of gay jokes (is this still 2011?). Toke up and you'll probably love it.
