Well, according to my Mom, Snoose is "Scandahoovian" for snuf (pinching/sniffing tobacco). Back in the day when Ballard was populated with crabbers and fishermen who did not have reality TV gigs the neighborhood was a little rougher. This is back at least to the 50's when there were daily brawls at the Lock Spot (often started by my Grandfather). Snoose Junction was the name of the bluest collar area of Ballard. Mom always said that when she married my Dad she was given a can of "snoose" on a string to wear around her neck - as a passport to get in and out of Ballard. I think it predates the pizza parlor, but I love that they named it that.

My wife has a little dance she does when she thinks I'm not paying attention and wants me to. I don't know how she does it but she gets her beautiful butt to move almost independently from the rest of her backside.

I have mastered the art of playing like I'm not paying attention, just to get the butt shaking dance more often. Oh dog do I love her.

My family, from Ballard, has always referred to Ballard as Snoose Junction.

Alleve can help bring the swelling down. You may want to lay off the specific activity shown in your avatar for a few days - just sayin.

Don't ever feel bad if someone doesn't like it when you ignore a cat-call or call them on their bad behavior. This isn't about their feelings, it is about your right to move through the world unmolested.

Safety is key, paying attention to the situation and using good judgement will save your skin better than all the martial arts in the world.

When I volunteered at a Women's Center I was trained to deal with situations like these using a three step process: tell them what they did, tell them what they need to do, tell them what you will do next:

"Your comment attempts to reduce me to an object. I need you to leave me alone, no hard feelings." (pause to allow them to process this, if they persist) "I will make a scene (alert the driver, call 911, whatever) if you do not leave me alone."
