  • What do people think of the Blue Angels?
    Avatar_default

I was born in Seattle, and moved away at the age of seven. One of the things I remember about living in Seattle is the Blue Angels, and how totally frickin' awesome they were. I remember going to see them and telling everyone that I was going to start my own girls-only fighter pilot group, the Yellow Angels. My childhood self thought the Blue Angels were the coolest thing EVER.

  • My cum is snow white, whats wrong?

I bet the nice folks at Planned Parenthood could give you a good answer. It`s hard for us to diagnose the problem over the internet, but they have doctors and well-trained staff who know all the questions to ask and, if you do have a problem, can help you treat it.

  • Are there any fantasy novels with gay male lead character(s) that are well written?
    Avatar_default

Mercedes Lackey's "The Last Herald Mage" trilogy features a gay male protagonist. It's part of her sprawling Valdemar series, which includes many gay and bisexual characters. I don't know if I would call them "well-written," because it has been a while since I read them and my literary tastes have changed since then, but I loved these books to pieces when I first read them in high school.

  • Do you know any home remedies for nausea?
    Avatar_default

I agree with all the people mentioning ginger. I snack on sugary crystallized ginger to help with motion sickness when I travel, and it seems to help. But ginger ale never does any good for me - possibly because there isn`t enough actual ginger in it.

Peppermint sometimes works for me as well. I just suck on peppermint lozenges.

This is surely the placebo effect in action, but putting pressure on my wrist sometimes help. Supposedly this is an acupressure point. There are bands commercially available that some people swear prevent motion sickness. I just press on a certain spot on my wrist and seem to feel better. This is specifically for motion sickness, though, and might not work for other kinds of nausea. Assuming it works at all, and isn`t just in my head.

The very best thing I use for nausea? Dramamine. It will put you to sleep and I`m not sure if it counts as a "home remedy," but it stops my nausea better than anything else.

  • What's with people who don't look you in the eyes when they're talking to you?
    Avatar_default

Eye contact is a learned behavior, one that varies greatly between cultures. For example, Americans tend to make a lot of eye contact, while Japanese tend to make comparatively little. If someone doesn`t make eye contact in a situation where it`s the cultural norm, it could be a symptom of a clinically diagnosable condition like Asperger`s. Or it could be that person just didn`t really pick up that particular learned behavior while they were growing up. If they grew up in a low-eye-contact household or were very shy growing up, they may have never gotten into the habit of making eye contact.

  • I am terrified of those attracted to me, and they realize it too quickly. How can I be suave enough to fool them?
    Avatar_default

A random assortment of thoughts that occurred to me:

    1. Why do you have to "fool them?" If someone is hitting on me and they`re nervous, I actually find it more appealing than bravado. "Gee, I`m really nervous but, uh, you wanna go out?" is a better route to my heart than "Hey baby, you`re coming home with me!"

    2. Physical symptoms like shaking are often the hallmarks of social anxiety disorder. Have you tried talking to a counselor? A professional might be able to talk you through better understanding the source of your anxiety and help you find ways to deal with it.

    3. Have you tried self-medicating with various relaxants? Head to a bar, have a drink or two, and practice putting the moves on pretty people after the alcohol has taken the edge off your nerves. Or, there are things you can smoke that can make you chill out a bit. If your attempts under the influence are successful it can give you more confidence when you`re sober, and if you`re rejected it can help you learn that rejection isn`t really that big of a deal. Don`t use alcohol as a crutch, don`t become dependent on alcohol, but a little now and then can be a nice social lubricant.

  • Why do men have nipples?
    Avatar_default

Because there is no reason for them to not have nipples. Embryos are all basically female until the hormones kick in and boy-babies develop male characteristics; nipples are part of the default set of body parts, and it's just hormones that turn female nipples into functioning organs while male nipples are usually only good for fun and decoration.

Evolution-wise, there's no reason why natural selection would promote the continued existence of man-nips, but there's also no reason why there would be selection against male nipples. They're neither helpful nor harmful, so they continue to be part of the human genome without much change throughout the eons. If there was some reason male nipples were harmful to a guy's chances of fathering children they might have gradually been bred out of the population, but since they don't have much impact either way they've stuck around.

  • why don't married men wear their wedding rings?
    Avatar_default

Maybe he gained weight and his ring no longer fits on his fat finger.
Maybe he lost weight and his rings no longer fits on his skinny finger.
Maybe he's poor, and can't afford a ring.
Maybe he pawned his ring to pay for his wife's chemotherapy.
Maybe he thinks rings are too materialistic for the ethereally pure love he shares with his wife.
Maybe he rejects rings because they are a symbol of patriarchal oppression of womyn.
Maybe he works with dangerous machinery and don't want to get dragged into a machine and mangled to bits because of a caught ring.
Maybe he's a baker and don't want to accidentally knead his ring into a fresh loaf of bread.
Maybe he's a farmer and don't want his ring to get all nasty when he has to stick his hand inside a cow.
Maybe he doesn't like the way rings feel.
Maybe going ringless makes it easier for him to pick up play-partners.

Maybe, if you're flirting with someone and he says he's married, you could laugh and whap him on the shoulder and say, "Dude! You're married!? Why aren't you wearing a ring?" And maybe he'll tell you.

  • Geriatric Cat
    Avatar_default

Another thing to consider is how easily she can get in and out of the litter box itself. A covered box with a small opening and a high sidewall can be difficult for a cat with reduced mobility. Try offering her a shallow open box and see if she likes it any better. Also, try to keep the box in an easily accessible place close to where she usually hangs out. When she goes in the house, is she going wherever she happens or be or is she choosing certain spots? Try putting boxes at places she's gone before.

  • Can plants reproduce in other ways, besides from seeds?
    Avatar_default

Yep! Some plants, like ferns, reproduce from spores. Some, like spider plants, clone themselves by producing little mini plantlets that take root on their own. You can take a cutting from many different kinds of plants, give it water and nutrients, and it will grow roots and form a new plant.
