Yeah, which is why I said "own or have a license to."

For the adapters and cables, you can try Monoprice.com. They have almost every kind of cable and adapter imaginable and insanely low prices. They're not all quite as meticulously designed as Apple's, but they'll get the job done.

@infinitepest - Yeah, you can get various adapters to send your iPad's output to your TV.

    HDMI - http://s.trn.gr/rt1vch
    VGA - http://s.trn.gr/rbSUWQ
    Component - http://s.trn.gr/ncRoWm

You can find similar cables to go from your laptop, it just depends which model you have and which ports it has. Newer models have Display Port, so you'd need a DP -> HDMI (or whatever you have on your TV) adapter and cable. Etc.

Also, you might think about looking into AppleTV. They're $100, which you could easily spend on all these cables, and then you can do a lot of this stuff wirelessly using AirPlay, plus watch Netflix, iTunes rentals, etc. I keep most of my video content on my computer, and then I use the excellent AirVideo app to play it on my iPad or iPhone. If I want to watch it on the TV, in 2 taps it's there, no wires.

Thanks! We did look around on Backyard Chickens, and it seems that Sudden, Unexplained Dropping-Dead Syndrome (SUDDS!) isn't all that unusual. We did contact the breeder to at least see about a replacement and to let them know, and they were surprised but didn't seem too terribly concerned at least as far as disease or danger to the other chickens. We'll probably never know.

    Thanks!

Well, my example didn't specify, so there's no reason to assume we're being unreasonable. If you must know, it's a big heavy mirror that could hurt him.

Ah ok, there does appear to be an issue with that in IE 7.

At this time we have no plans to offer a classic view since that would undermine the (significant) performance benefit, but we'll get that fixed in IE7.

Out of curiosity: Are you using IE7 by choice, or is that what you're stuck with at work? IE in general is riddled with bugs and security holes, and doesn't support many modern web techniques, but the latest versions are always better.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the detailed report. Strange. The banners server is the ad server, of course, and it can be slow sometimes, but nothing has changed about that recently. In all our tests the changes we made (fewer full posts on the front page, less javascript), made things noticeably faster. The thing that Firefox shows in the lower left are notoriously inaccurate, so I wouldn't say it's necessarily those particular domains. Our current suspect is Facebook.

We've made some changes that should help. Would love to hear if it's looking/acting better for you guys now. Thanks!

Don't feel stupid. It's a remarkably well hidden feature, and that's where we should feel stupid (we do). Coming soon: browser detection so that when you go to Slog on a mobile device, we'll let you know this thing exists, which is just common courtesy.

    Anyway, enjoy!
