I don't know where you could get it done, but I would say that it's definitely a good investment. Those old cast-iron tubs hold in the heat a lot longer, and they just look better most of the time too...

  • Help!!!!! My brother is a 'young conservative'!

  • Can a relationship work with my best friend?
    Gary_numan_500_small

I'm going through something very similar. In my case, it's a long-distance thing, so that hasn't helped at all. He tells me that he loves me all the time, but it's just words. There's no feeling there at all, other than he's a good guy and we have a lot in common. I tried breaking it off by telling him that I felt there was no spark, no passion, but he steadfastly refused to acknowledge it. And then I told him that I just had too much going on in my life, and that I needed a break. Somehow that was acceptable. I guess he just didn't want it to be "his fault". We still text and whatnot, and I tell him, "We'll see...", but I don't think it's ever going to be more than just friendship. Sometimes things just don't work out, y'know?

Mine is a brand-new box of Crayola crayons. Has to be Crayola. Sometimes when I'm in Target I'll run and have a sniff before checking out...

  • Recommendations for Halloween books for adults and children?
    Gary_numan_500_small

Coming into this a bit late, but I can't believe that no-one has mentioned "The Halloween Tree" by Bradbury. It does a fantastic job of telling a scary story, but highlighting various Halloween traditions across the world and in time. It's a super-fast read, but I love love love it.

And I will also second ALL of Gorey's works. While the small books are wonderful to have, nearly all of his works have been compiled in "Amphigorey" and the sequels "Amphigorey Too", "Amphigorey Also" and "Amphigorey Again". I believe that "Gashlycrumb Tinies" is included in the first compilation.

I will also say that I first came across E. Gorey as the illustrator for Bellairs' books, mentioned by Sacrelicious. They are lots of fun, full of riddles and mysteries and cranky old folks!

  • Should I get a flu shot? Yes/No?
    Gary_numan_500_small

I say yes. Like it or not, we're all part of the herd, and it's our responsibility to try to stay healthy. Not just for our sakes', but for everyone around us. I'm diabetic, so I should be getting it annually anyway, but I do it mostly for my mom, who is living with cancer and is immune-suppressed. If I got sick and then passed it on to her...

Fnarf, those McVities Dark are insanely delish. I get mine at Cost Plus. They are also insanely priced, but oh so worth it from time to time...

  • I have a question for you all: Who is the favorite of my traveling companions?

Thank ye kindly! I loooove Numan - hence the profile photo. I guess I should have said that many might be familiar with his early stuff, but unaware that the man just hasn't ever stopped producing great music. Except maybe for "Machine & Soul"... *shudder*

  • What are the best latter-career albums (1990's-present) by great '80's bands/artists?
    Gary_numan_500_small

Not too many Americans are familiar with Gary Numan, but he has an impressive track record. His current sound is much more industrial/gothic than his 80s stuff. I would recommed "Pure" and "Jagged".
