I agree - it tends to come down to the teacher. I remember having lots of fun and being really engaged in science classes until I got certain teachers. A coach (unenthusiastically) teaching science does no one any favors. Also - when doing activities or experiments and having to go so slowly you want to jump out the window is a bad idea. I mean, I don't know how teachers manage 30+ kids all at once, but it sucks when the kids who "get it" are slowed down by those who don't and the teacher is fighting to keep everyone on the same page. Should it really take 10 minutes to get everyone's Bunsen burner turned on?
