We've heard of isolating two cats with a door between them for a least a day or two, so they can smell each other, and at least not be AS threatened by the presence of another cat. We we tried this years ago, the older cat NEVER accepted the younger kitten, who had been starved by someone feeding it adult cat food, not kitty food for it's first year...so it was always kind of dumb....

Maybe a "U"... there is a university near by...

Blush... no, I have not informed the shop...it is about 72 miles from me, and I haven't gotten back there. But I HAVE to think that they KNEW they had a problem... cause there were several dozen on their discount rack, all in smart little white boxes, with clear celophane windows that showcased the opaque red rubber plug inside so clearly. It wasn't until you opened it that the scent of chemical hit you. And, yes, I washed them thoroughly with soap and water and dried them, and used talc in an attempt to assure they were OK before use. Even washed them up afterward too, with soap and water. REJECTED...
