    What sewing machine should I buy?

    Hi Jenny! I have a Bernette (for Bernina). I think it is actually made by Brother in the US, so it's less expensive than a full-on Bernina, but a totally quality machine. I got it as a hand-me-down from my sister about ten years ago and have sewn all kinds of stuff on it (leather, ultrasuede, silk) and have never had to bring it in for service.

    I'm new to running and need good shoes. Where's the best place to get them?

    Definitely Super Jock and Jill in Greenlake. The people there are very knowledgeable and patient. I went into Seattle Running Company once and stood there for ten minutes while the two staff people totally ignored me.
