  0 0 Water is only used in the processing of rock candy. There's no water in the final product. See, Rev, I don't object to the tax. I just don't see why it's so full of complicated technicalities to the point that it can't be applied properly. If there's going to be a convoluted definition, it should be followed. Or else quit with the pussyfooting and tax all products with copious amounts of sugar regardless of what's in them. Keith Tyler commented about 1 year ago

  0 0 If that's what they wanted to do, then that's what they should have done. They took pains to make this specific definition so that they could still exempt raw sugar (why?) and other things. It turns out that, among other things, Whoppers, Red Vines, Oreos, Twix, and Kit Kats are all exempt. So it has nothing to do with what rots your teeth. That's a convenient straw man perhaps but it falls down fast enough. And wine isn't "just grapes". It contains alchohol. Note that our alcohol laws don't exempt, for example, alcohol mixed with flour. They make a lot more sense -- and don't require a long list of "does it qualify or not" to figure out.   0 0 Boston. It's transit system focuses on routing through places that people want to go rather than through where is cheap to build. The long run return is better when you create a more expensive system that people use a lot rather than a less (but still) expensive system that people rarely use. Also, they realize that a mass transit system isn't just for 6 AM- 9AM and 4 PM - 7 PM M-F -- it's something people use to visit friends, shop, find entertainment, do errands as well.
