I personally found them boring because they were too easy. And the teachers were sometimes boring, and my classmates were moronic.
Though this may not be the case anymore, as I girl I was never encouraged to study the sciences. I wish, in jr. high, a science teacher would have taken an interest in me and encouraged me to harness my natural curiosity with the scientific method. it would have saved me years of being miserable taking liberal arts classes in college and working shit jobs.
I have to say, I think about this a lot. and I think that part of the problem is that kids are not exposed to the scientific method early enough. Logic is something that I think is missing from elementary education, the simple process of hypothesis-observation-conclusion and it's implications aren't explored until jr. high. And perhaps a lot of elementary school teachers fail to implement scientific curricula effectively.
