  • What is your favorite instance of true laughter in a film?
    Me_small

This isn't film, but it happens all the time in "It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia"

One of my favorite instances is the episode "Mac and Charlie Die" when they are camping out on the roof as hobo's on the run and Charlie's teeth keep falling out. Mac says, "You're not gonna be able to eat that hot dog," and Charlie says, "I'll just suck it down" and you can see Mac can't help but start laughing.

  • Can a swollen knee joint cause long term damage if untreated?
    Me_small

Your knee has been swollen for over a month now, and though there is no pain it still hasn't improved at all and is limiting your mobility.

The fact that this is a reoccuring issue means you should start looking into preventitive measures, but in the immediacy, if it doesn't get better it can definitely cause long-term damage. Just the simple act of changing your gait to make up for the lack of mobility for a long duration of time can do damage to your knees, hips and back.

You're isolated from a doctor, but not from their advice. My suggestion would be to call a doctor, if possible the one who treated you before and explain your situation. It may be as simple as continuing the anti-inflammatories (though you shouldn't be taking ibuprofen daily for more than a week or so) and directly icing it. It may be as complex as having to fly out and get the fluid drained again.

When it comes down to it, is a thousand bucks worth having the ability to move around like normal in the remote region you're in?

  • Mushroom giving dilemma...???
    Me_small

I don't frequent questionland as much as I used to, but I periodically go back through old questions to make sure I've given out a mushroom to a deserving answer. I usually wait until I recieve at least a few responses, and even if there are multiple deserving I give it to whoever put out the most effort (giving helpful links or personal stories).

  • Does anyone know a good (not scary) movie for a 2.5 year old?

Milo and Otis, my favorite children's movie of all time.

Good call on the scarves, I'll look into that! And cashmere is probably just what she'll like, she just wanted to find some soft and cozy.

    Thanks, RM!

  • What are some good day trip destinations in the area around Seattle?
    Me_small

Want to tell people you climbed a mountain over the weekend? Go hike Little Si . It's a pretty easy day hike and the view from the top is amazing regardless of the weather (I imagine it would be awesome in a storm). If you're feeling adventurous, you could try Big Si next to it, but I think that one may require some basic equipment.

  • How Do I Make Myself Go To The Gym?
    Me_small

I second the personal trainer. Having someone to coach you along the very difficult and arduous process of getting back in shape is much easier than going it alone.

Another suggestion is to schedule it into your daily routine. If you just have it up in the air that you should go sometime today, you'll have reason to put it off. If you make it your daily routine to go to the gym at 7:30 every morning or 6 PM every night, it's much easier to stick to your guns.

Lastly, you could sign up for a race. Have you ever ran distance before? There's honestly nothing like a huge road race to get you motivated. Sign up for a half marathon taking place 6 months from now (maybe the Seattle Rock n Roll?) <-- I'll probably be running in this if you want a slog/qland high 5 to start the race.

But honestly, the only way I keep myself running and working out is by periodically signing up for these races. Nothing says motivation like dropping 50-150 bones on the right to run with a bunch of other suckers.
