  • What home treatment can be done for Kidney Stones? Any alternative low cost treatments?
    N1591882060_1382_small

Drink lots and lots of water. If you have kidney stones this will help flush them out, and if you don't have kidney stones it certainly won't make anything you do have any worse.

If your kidney stones are small enough to pass without intervention the doctor will just give you a strainer to pee through and some pain medication - and tell you to drink lots of water.

I've had good luck with acupuncture for kidney pain, so you may want to check that out as well.

  • My dipshit drunk-ass friends unplugged my crock pot in the middle of the night. Can I still eat the chicken that was cooking in it?
    N1591882060_1382_small

Well, the chicken probably didn't cook all the way through before it was unplugged, which means that what you've got is a pot full of half-raw meat that has been sitting at room temperature for a few hours. I'm pretty sure that you shouldn't eat it, however if you want to heat it up and feed it to the dumb-asses who unplugged it, it could serve as an object lesson.

  • Why was Forest J. Ackerman of Famous Monsters of Filmland so beloved by sci fi fans?
    N1591882060_1382_small

Forry is revered for many reasons, he is one of the few people who can say that they were there when science fiction fandom started. Forry was the first person ever to wear a science fiction inspired costume to a convention, and along with a few other devoted fans (including Ray Harryhausen, and Ray Bradbury)pretty much laid the groundwork for what science fiction and horror fandom are today.

He was also (via Famous Monsters) a huge influence on many of the people working in the movie industry today.
Famous Monsters was the first magazine to feature behind the scenes interviews with make-up artists and creature designers.

He was also a hell of a nice guy. I met him a few years ago at one of his famous open house days. He had a terrific collection of props and costumes, and would let anybody come and look at them. He even let me try on Lugosi's original Dracula ring.
