    believe it or not, i wrote a piece about bagels for the stranger back in the day (96 or 97?) called "the other white bread." at the time, we did our research and they were the only ones who boiled. so, it's 13-year-old information, but steaming was the new technology then, i'm assuming it's only gotten more pervasive. who knows. you?

    i just realized what your question really is-- that you have it and want to keep it after not paying. my answer still kind of applies, but i would start with what renee says. they'll turn it off on their computer but you'll still be connected for basic cable. then if/when the guy comes out to physically unhook you, pay him off or follow where he goes and rehook yourself afterwards.
